Tempiro is financed and supported by the Swedish Energy Agency, Vinnova, Climate-KIC and Almi. The startup is currently part of the Ideon Innovation incubator in Lund (Sweden).

“Our company is growing fast and our very first product, which consist of smart fuses to remotely control electric heating, is soon to come to market. Its final design is actually ready and we currently have a working prototype. The money we raise through this campaign will help us to finally start the mass production of our smart fuses”, tells Tempiro’s founder and CEO, Magnus Lindström.

The goal of the campaign is to acquire sales to a value of at least €10 000. The product is available in different kits starting from €139. The campaign will run until December 18th and the estimated shipping time is at the beginning of 2018.

“The campaign will help us to create awareness about our product throughout Europe and get orders from customers who are motivated to help businesses like ours to turn their ideas into reality”, Magnus added.

Tempiro has a patent pending solution based on the idea to convert traditional fuses into smart connected fuses. After a simple 5-minute DIY installation, homeowners will be able to remotely control a variety of electric appliances such as heating, ventilation, sauna, kitchen appliances, floor heating or electric car, from an app in their phone.Tempiro will help them to save both energy and money, at the same time as they will come home to a cozy and warm house.

The accelerator program, located in Malmö (Sweden), starts in February and will run for five months. Six startups will take part of its fourth batch.

“The program is aimed to early and mid-stage startups that are somehow related to the energy sector, with a potential focus on areas such as sustainability, cleantech, renewables, smart home, energy efficiency, facility management, IoT related to industry and energy sales”, says Sara Hamlin, operational lead.

The six chosen teams will get access to up to 30 000 euros in seed funding, training, mentoring, office space as well as access to several industry experts, who will lead them in the process of building and scaling their business.

The :agile accelerator program has, since its start in Germany in 2013, accelerated over 145 startups. :agile Nordic started in the beginning of 2016 and has accelerated 13 startups to date.

In addition, the company receives the same amount from other private investors, who jointly with Almi will contribute to a further development.

“We have a detailed plan for how to deal with partners. The launch will occur next year, but at the moment, I do not want to exactly explain how”, says Per-Eric Olsson, CEO of Hoofstep.

Currently, the company has around 25 customers, who test prototypes on a specially designed halter that records horse movements and behavior. For example, information about horse eating habits or motion patterns is sent with radio signals to a connected device, so that the owner can access an in-time information through a mobile app.

The developers at Hoofstep have also added an alarm feature that warns when the horse, for example, stands at the gate to get in.

“So far, it has been very good for our first prototypes, and now we have ordered a new updated version from our manufacturer in China, whereas wee have added some additional features that have proven to be important to customers”, Per-Eric Olsson added.

Hoofstep was founded last year and has been part of the Think accelerator program in Helsingborg. In addition to Per-Eric Olsson, there are other founders who have funded the business with own resources.

The scale-ups focus on a wide array of emerging technologies and span from sports and health tech to media and communications. 

Yogaia, Dental Media, OZ Sports, ViaBill, Singa, Secomea and Disruptive Technologies are the selected companies for Nordic Scalers program that starts this December and covers the whole Nordic region, starting from this December. Over the next six months the scale-ups will access a network of mentors with a deep understanding of private as well as business customers. About 700 companies have been considered for the program, basing on inputs from the entrepreneurial communities in each of the Nordic countries.

“It has been amazing to see so many talented scale-ups applying for the program. We have singled them down to a group of companies with a strong passion and products or services with great potential. I am excited to see them take on the significant challenge that the American market offers”, comments Bjarne Schøn, Program Director, Nordic Scalers, on the selection process.

The scale-ups were selected after pitching their plans for scaling. The mentor network is a core element of the program.

Nordic Innovation has initiated Nordic Scalers to support Nordic growth companies with high ambitions and a high potential to scale globally. Nordic Scalers runs from 2017-2019 with the ambition to create the next global corporates coming out of the Nordics.

A key component of the program is to put scale-ups in a fast-forward mode to “get their feet on the ground” in a new market. The first market in focus is the US, which the 7 selected scale-ups will visit in Spring 2018.

IntroDus selected these business angels, basing on their experience, not on their wallet, according to a press release by IntroDus. For these businesses to thrive, they can capitalize on tools such as a Knowledgebase Software.

The startup applies an innovative pre-and onboarding platform as a tool for employee’s “time-to-performance” by up to 85%. It also helps companies to increase retention of businesses by up to 79%.

IntroDus, which started in December 2016, currently stations nine employees and has customers in Denmark, Sweden, France, UK, Singapore and Japan. Over a year, the company has raised its capital by adding about a million DK amount. 

The platform of the startup helps new employees before and after embarking a job to achieve a high performance and to reduce mistakes. An error can cost half a million; a problem that IntroDus wants to solve. That’s why undergoing training like Six Sigma Master Black Belt can be a huge difference-marker.

It’s not just mistakes that cost. The current recruitment process requires many resources to be alloted by companies for training, introduction and transfer. Furthermore, more than 800,000 Danes changed jobs in 2016, according to the Parliamentary Employment Committee. This resulted in additional burdens for employers.

“We help and create work security for new employees, and that security creates good performance. We, jointly with a number of reports from major analysts, advise our customer in this regard, “emphasizes Anders Thorup, the CEO and co-founder of IntroDus.

By raising its capital, the startup will have the opportunity to target even more countries and upgrade the home market. Besides, Introdus has experienced an increased demand for their solutions, according to the press release.

The production line at the new plant will be launched on December 7, 2017, and the entire move of the Swedish manufacturer of electric cars shall have been completed by March 2018 .

After 2 years of evaluation process, Uniti finally decided to place its European production plant in Landskrona and will launch its new electric car with a big event on December 7, 2017, where many people, including current investors (over 1000 people), car buyers (with current 915 pre-orders), Unitis partners and supporters, will meet and have the chance to see the new plant on field. The event will also include an exhibition of Unit’s key partners, including Siemens and KUKA Robotics.

During the first year at the new plant, Uniti will expand its evaluation process of the prototype to be launched on December 7, 2017. In parallel, planning for production will steadily go on. The new facility is located in central Landskrona with good access to logistics solutions, storage facilities and flexible connections with Copenhagen, Malmö, Lund as well as surrounding areas.

“Landskrona is an ideal place to manufacture and assemble our products. It is also obvious that Landskrona has ambitious plans to become a center for new technologies in the region and they have all resources in place to reach this goal“, says Lewis Horne, Uniti CEO.

Landskrona has a long tradition of work to convert to renewable energy and sustainable transport. Besides, the city has established logistics center for air-, rail- and truck freights. Landskrona also has high-speed internet coverage via fiber, and can provide sustainable energy production plants.

BEYOND is a corporate accelerator, where major companies share the same environment and apply lean startup methods to find new business models and products. It is a collaboration between RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) and Ideon Open. The goal is to help companies develop their business beyond the company’s existing business structures.

Companies can place one or more development projects in BEYOND for up to twelve months. The teams collaborate together at Ideon Science Park in Lund, where they work with innovation specialists from RISE and Ideon Open.

Within three months, six entrepreneurs will be supported in developing their ideas and business plans basing on the seventeen global goals for sustainable development.

SoPact is a collaborative project to be implemented by Helsingborg Stad, Social Science College at Campus Helsingborg and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) for the duration between 2016-2018 . Project’s goal is to create an accelerator program that supports 42 social enterprises. Some of startups have already acted as accelerators, like I am fashion, Ingen Ingenjör, GePant and Local Food Nodes.

“With Sopact, we want to explore opportunities to identify and support entrepreneurs, including those who, together with students and researchers, want to develop and spread new methods, tools and services for social work in a changing world along with complex societal challenges,” says Marcus Knutagård, Deputy Head of Social Science College .

Participating entrepreneurs are active in certain issues, such as integration and health. They want to contribute to a positive social development.

“We are very proud that we have been approved for Sopact’s accelerator programs, which will be a perfect supporter for our startups. All our ideas have been acquiring more structure and guidance to implement them”, says Emir Mujezinovic, founder of A Home to thrive in, a city to enjoy.

Helsingborg Stad is one of the co-financiers of SoPact project and enables social entrepreneurs to sit and work in a creative environment on Think Open Space. Emelie Dahlström is the current program manager for the Helsingborg-based accelerator SoPact.

Prior to its 100th anniversary, the Ministry has photographed country’s entire road network with panoramic cameras. Images are now being loaded into Mapillary’s databases.

“Hopefully, this can inspire other countries to share data that are stored in their digital systems. By sharing such data with specialized companies like Mapillary, the images become accessable to the public”, says Mapillary’s founder Jan Erik Solem.

The images are subject to the so-called Creative Commons License. So, the gift only gives Mapillary the right to use these images. The Lithuanian Ministry of Transport, however, still has the copyright of the material.

Mapillary is owned by the four founders, namely Johan Gyllenspetz, Yubin Kuang, Jan Erik Solem and Peter Neubauer, in addition to smaller funds and business angels. In spring 2016, Mapillary got investments for SEK 68 million (ca. € 7 million)  external capital.

Mapillary is a user-generated street service, which is based on people who walk around and take pictures with their mobile phones. Last year, Mapillary automatically started analyzing all input sequences of images. Now, it can identify many details in the pictures; at pathways, signs, intersections or pedestrian crossings. As users continuously upload their own street images, the Ministry can thus get an overview of any changes that occur in the road network.

Lithuania is the first country that shares its entire road network with Mapillary. However, cities like Helsingborg and Amsterdam, have previously shared a large number of street images with this service.

Mapillary was founded in 2013 and currently stations 32 employees. In addition to its office in Malmö, it has also subsidiaries in America and Austria. Mapillary is primarily funded by venture capital. Last year, the company had a turnover of almost SEK 5 million (ca. €  515000). This year, sales of around SEK 8 million (ca. € 825000) are expected.
