Some say that it´s just a stand, but it may well help the retailers with a better shopping experience for the consumer.

Sales have increased with a steady 50% per year, but Combain Mobile AB is now fighting over a contract with competitors like Google which would increase their turnover doublefold.

“It’s just us and giants like Google, Nokia and Apple which have databases for the positioning of this size and this is hardly a core business for Google. If we get the order we double our turnover in one blow”, says Rikard Windhover to Sydsvenskan.

In parallel, the company has established systems that include taxi booking, mobile billing and order management. A business built on two separate legs gives confidence in the company whilst opportunities for self-funding increase, reason the owners.

“We have also introduced a cloud-based call center in Romania, which companies can buy access to. Either we can offer the whole package and simply take over the work, or they can send their customers further if they are really busy at the office. We know it all from Copenhagen. If it suddenly starts to piss down, then headphones become overcrowded, but now companies can automatically send the waiting customers on to us. For several years the Dutch town Eindhoven has been ranked as the most inventive city in the world. This year again, Eindhoven is on the first rank, but Malmo follows closely on a 4th place, after San Francisco and San Diego, with an average 6.85 patent applications per 10.000 residents. Copenhagen makes the index on a 15th rank, with an average of 3.75 patent applications per 10.000 residents. Goteborg and Stockholm are also in the index, but of all Swedish cities, Malmo is the most ‘inventive’. You can learn from them how to get your invention made.

It would be interesting to see how Malmö and Copenhagen would rank if Design rights were taken into account, since the OECD only looks at the amount of patent applications which merely reflect technological inventions.

Vivino writes on their blog that at the 27th of June, 2013, 15 million images of wine labels have been scanned, with an average of 15 scans of wine labels per person this equals 1 million users! The more content provided by users, the more valuable the service becomes. Realizing this when they started in 2012, the CEO Heini Zachariassen took a do it yourself approach, and started filling the database. Later, COO Theis Søndergaard held a competition to increase the number of scans. The content seems to have increased rapidly afterwards, now containing an impressive 1.3M wines.

The two angels investors from Germany remain anonymous, but Sydsvenskan mentions that they are IT-entrepreneurs with strong ties in the electronic music scene in Berlin. Recently the value of the company got an estimation of 2M Euro. Today five people work at Tunaspot, and the company has plans to recruit a developer. The investment also means that Tunaspot will open an office in Berlin.

“We will have our office in the Betahaus, which is a bit like Media Evolution City in Malmö. Two people will be in the place all the time. However, Berlin is becoming more and more a European Silicon Valley. We found our investors there, and we think that we’ll find interesting partners there. SBT Aquatech won in the category Cleantech & Environment, while four other teams won in the other categories. The winner, SBT Aquatech has developed a sensor for water utilities designed to make it easier and faster to detect bacteria in drinking water. The sensor can quickly detect rising bacteria levels, which helps with the prevention of for example the dangerous E.coli bateria

SBT Aquatech won and a cash prize of 34.000 Euro to start their business, and other products and services in the form of a Venture Cup Booster Pack worth 54.000 Euro.
