Lift Relations, a Customer Success platform for the Professional Services industry, was founded in 2015 in Denmark, where the product and tech still resides, whilst Sales, Marketing and Customer Success are run out of the US.

Lift predicts in real-time the risks and opportunities of losing or growing any of your client relationships by providing a unique Lift Score per client relationship. Lift also provides real-time recommended actions on how to manage the risks or utilize opportunities replacing traditional heavy and expensive consultancies.

The startup has recently raised over 2.6 million EUR from SEED Capital to disrupt the existing consultancy driven market and replace the Net Promoter Score as the leading customer health metric.

“When we launched Lift, the majority of “client health metrics” in B2B were too simple in nature and didn’t really move the needle, especially in B2B. NPS was the standard many companies had adopted without really noticing whether it made a difference or not. Again and again we realized that NPS just doesn’t work in B2B if your goal is to reduce client churn or organically grow existing clients. So we co-created a methodology with some of the most forward thinking companies in the US, building a unique methodology that predicts what will happen with your client relationships in the next 3 months and thereby you have an opportunity to affect the relationship in time before it’s too late to manage” says Founder & CEO, Dan Hestbaek.

Dan Hestbaek, Founder and CEO of Lift Relations

The bootstrapped company has already successfully built a real-time prediction system for the Marketing and Advertising vertical and will soon expand into other Professional Services industries where the market potential is huge and untapped within Customer Success platforms.

NPS (Net Promoter Score – “How likely are you to recommend this product/service to another?”) has long been the most popular KPI for ‘Customer Health’. It was developed as a simple survey tool for gauging consumer acceptance of products. Yet, it neglects to consider the complexity of B2B relationships with multiple stakeholders and their different needs. To get insights, companies who can afford it, engage with large consultancies like PWC to get a yearly report on customer sentiment and suggested actions. But, in a rapidly moving world, yearly input does not cut it. NPS is under attack.

“The Lift Score predicts in real-time whereas NPS is a periodic picture of the past. And we all know it’s difficult to change the past. The Lift Score is formed by combining client health and employee health metrics providing a single score about the risks and opportunities associated with a client relationship in the next 3 months. This is unique in the marketplace. Lift measures actual performance and engagement from clients and employees. Furthermore, the Lift Score works as a self-learning engine over time for each client meaning it’s more dependable than a static NPS score that doesn’t learn or evolve over time. This makes the Lift Score a significantly more valuable score than NPS for B2B companies” says Founder & CEO, Dan Hestbaek.

Lift has already proven its results. After 5 years of tracking data, companies that followed the Lift methodology and recommended actions reduced their client churn by 30% on average year-on-year. The company serves several Fortune 500 customers such as Omnicom and Interpublic Group.

‘’All Customer Success software platforms and consulting services employ NPS as a key metric for measuring Customer Health. However, in the huge professional services market this metric is almost useless. We believe that the Lift Score is a game-changer within Customer Success. We’ve been impressed with the team and their bootstrapped international traction. We believe that Lift can become a category winner in this rapidly evolving market and are happy that they chose us as their first VC partner’’ says Niels Vejrup Carlsen, General Partner at Seed Capital and new member of the board.

Until today the company has bootstrapped with 95% of its revenue already in the US. Seed Capital joins the journey to make sure that Lift truly can ‘’Lift off’’ within professional services. The plan for 2022 is to scale customer acquisition rapidly to fully own the US as well as enter the global market. This requires an additional 40+ new hires to the team in both the US & Denmark.

Passendo was founded in 2016 by two experienced pioneers in digital advertising, Andreas Jürgensen and Anders Rasmussen, with the aim of exploiting the great potential of email advertising. In fact, businesses can click here now in order to ensure that all the emails they send to are all validated.

Regular Ad servers do not work with email, but Passendo’s award-winning email Ad serving platform helps publishers of newsletters increase revenue, launch campaigns and control content and quality.

The funding the startup has received is from two international investors, Dutch Newion and British FirstPartyCapital, and it is not the first time the company gets significant investments.

“There are teams that create tomorrow’s opportunities and then there are teams that transform the world of yesterday. Passendo does both: they use the latest generation of advertising opportunities along with the oldest and largest application on the Internet – email. We are happy to support this talented and experienced team with the first of many future investments in Denmark!”, says John Sjölander, partner at Newion.

“Passendo offers a targeted solution that neither Google nor other AdTech companies can provide, giving publishers and marketers access to a unique email Ad platform and great measurement opportunities. We are very impressed with the team and we look forward to working with them to build a global winner in this area,” says Rich Ashton, managing partner at FirstPartyCapital.

The startup has currently over 4 000 leading media groups and publishers internationally as its customers. Among the Nordic customers you will find Bonnier Publications, which uses Passendo’s technology throughout the Nordic region, and Saxo Bank, which uses it for advertising.

“This investment will directly benefit our customers. Now we can continue to develop world-class technology and at the same time continue to build strategic partnerships with recognized partners. This is important as we aim to become the leading global email Ad serving platform”, says Anders Ratzau Rasmussen, COO and co-founder of Passendo.

Many international financial news outlets prefer Passendo’s technology as well. The same goes for large foreign media houses like Roularta, Springer Nature, IPM Media and Reach, which use Passendo’s platform to effectively manage their newsletter campaigns. German Ebner today spends 80% less time managing their campaigns after the implementation of Passendo’s platform.

“The partnerships with Newion and FirstPartyCapital will undoubtedly help us on our way to a leading position in the market. In addition to their investment, they give us access to a lot of knowledge and an interesting network. At present we are a team of 35 people with offices in Denmark, Belgrade, London and the USA. We aim to triple the number of employees within the next two years to meet the growing demand, especially in the US and the UK,” explains Andreas Jürgensen, CEO and co-founder of Passendo.

Recently both Sweden and Denmark have become the first countries to have added the Whistleblowing Law to their national law, which obliges companies with over 50 employees to implement a system for whistleblowing opportunities. The recognition of the importance of whistleblowing has been the motivation behind Visslan.

Visslan is a Malmö-based SaaS startup that specialises in providing companies with a convenient whistleblowing system. The startup was founded by Daniel Vaknine and Måns Skogman in 2021. Visslan’s ambition is to make whistleblowing safe, simple and transparent for both the whistleblower and the whistleblower’s workplace.

“Visslan actually began when I was tasked to find a whistleblowing system for the company that I worked for. I wasn’t very impressed, and we felt that the focus was wrong. With the new legislation, everyone is just focusing on compliance but by doing that they miss out on so much else. We want to shift that focus to unlock and harness the hidden benefits of whistleblowing”, – Daniel Vaknine, Co-Founder of Visslan.

The startup’s affordable solution improves workplace safety, saves resources and helps employers be more compliant. Visslan’s services are in line with the EU directives, and the whistleblowing cases are also easy to manage for case handlers, which makes the system user-friendly. Moreover, having an outlet for reporting irregularities adds to “speak-up” culture and helps avoid big scandals.

Visslan is currently searching for funding to grow and improve their services.

“We see an increased awareness and companies are slowly starting to explore their options to become compliant. We want to position ourselves as the cutting-edge solution with our unique approach and mindset, which is why we are now looking to raise our pre-seed round with smart money. We will use that money to establish Visslan and rapidly expand our team”, – Daniel Vaknine, Co-Founder of Visslan.

Ulobby was founded in Copenhagen in 2016 and it is a tech startup that is democratising Public Affairs. The purpose of the platform is to make the lobbying process more transparent and accessible to more companies and organizations that want to understand and influence the political process.

Recently the startup has recently seen a major change in their board. Mogens Hafstrøm Nielsen has taken over as the new chairman of the board back in August. With his many years of experience with SaaS scale-ups, he will contribute to further expansion, especially in the Nordic region, as well as help the company to deliver profitable growth in the future and become Europe’s leading stakeholder management platform.

According to the new chairman of the board, Ulobby’s software platform, current market position and strong team in particular are helping make Ulobby a successful company.

“Ulobby is a SaaS scale-up that has proven viable and with a good opportunity to achieve a leading position in the European market. As Chairman of the Board, I look forward to helping to facilitate the development that the team is already in full swing with, and which we must continue with a view to further success both in and outside Denmark,” says Mogens Hafstrøm Nielsen.

Mogens Hafstrøm Nielsen has many years of experience as an entrepreneur, CEO and consultant. In addition, he has been a professional chairman of the board and an investor in B2B SaaS scale-ups
for several years , which makes him the perfect profile for Ulobby.

“Mogens has a global outlook and many years of experience with market penetration, go-to-market strategy and not least international rollout. We want to expand further, especially in the Nordic region next year, and at the same time we are in a unique position as a scale-up – we are well on our way to profitability, which Mogens can also help us achieve for 2022 with his experience from other companies,” says Anders Kopp Jensen, CEO and co-founder of Ulobby.

The company currently has 17 employees and offices in Frederiksberg (Copenhagen) and in Brussels. Read more news about Ulobby here.

Hi, Robin! Thank you for joining us today. The last time we wrote about Cogo was back in April. Would you like to share what has been happening with the startup since then?

We launched Cogo last summer and fast-forward by 12 months, and we have helped tens of thousands of users find environmentally-friendly rides through our extensive operator coverage across Europe. We now include 200 mobility operators and it’s possible to use Cogo in over 500 cities around the world. Since we closed our first financing round in the spring we’ve mainly focused on two things: product development and user acquisition.

We have improved significantly on the product side, we’ve totally redesigned the whole app based on learnings and on user feedback. Most recently we launched our new price comparison tool to compare price and travel time across all operators and vehicle types in one search. We’ve also
improved our back-end so that our system is much more scalable and adaptable as we continue to grow internationally.

Our user growth is very significant, we’re currently doubling our user base every second month! In April we were only doing marketing in Stockholm, but now we’re present in all the main cities in Sweden and we recently launched in Italy and Spain as well. Cogo has been used in 120 countries and this has all happened organically.

What was your main motivation for the price-comparing feature?

When we launched Cogo last year, we set out to give control to the users, and make shared mobility more accessible and transparent for everyone. The surplus of operator apps has created confusion amongst the market as it’s been near impossible to get a full overview of all the operators and their price differences, and that’s what we want to change. We’re proud to have launched the world’s most comprehensive price comparison tool for shared mobility to make the industry more transparent. Cogo can now help estimate the price and travel time across all operators and vehicle
types in one simple search.

Have you had any initial feedback about it yet?

The feedback has so far been very positive. Our users appreciate the simplicity of being able to compare the different vehicles and operators in one simple search. There are so many options and different price structures of fixed costs (e.g. unlock fee) and variable costs (e.g. cost per minute) so it’s
very time consuming to figure out the cheapest or fastest way of getting somewhere when you stand on the street ready to go. So by just adding your destination and having Cogo do all the hard work for you is much appreciated to get you moving in seconds.

Your app is free to use. How does Cogo receive profit?

We have a couple of different revenue streams, such as a commission model where we take a cut of the operators share for each completed ride (we don’t add any extra fees for the users). We’re also looking at a SaaS solution for companies who want to get access to shared mobility solutions for their employees.

Share a bit more about your vision with our readers. How and why was Cogo created?

In 2017, I witnessed the emergence of electric scooters in the USA and recognized the potential of shared mobility to address urban transportation challenges. Monitoring its progression in the USA, I eagerly awaited its arrival in Europe, and when it did, I found myself juggling over 10 different apps for commuting between Copenhagen and Malmö. The fragmented experience of navigating multiple applications for shared rides was frustrating, and I couldn’t find a single app that consolidated all available options. Recognizing the gap in the market, especially for users like me, I decided to tackle the issue. Thus, Cogo was born, with the vision to serve as a comprehensive platform for accessing all shared rides. Our goal is to simplify and streamline urban mobility, making it convenient for users to navigate cities seamlessly. We believe that by addressing this need, we can encourage more people to embrace sustainable modes of transportation. This endeavor emerged from a personal challenge and a shared commitment among app developers like ourselves to enhance the future of urban mobility.

Tell us briefly about your team!

My two co-founders and I worked previously at momondo, so we have experience in building an aggregator platform and how to expand internationally. Our CTO Martin Røssell was Head of Development and part of the founding team of momondo. Bibi Blomqvist, our COO, was Head of Sales and all global partnerships. I was the Regional Director responsible for our growth and P&L in 15 markets, and before Cogo I was the CMO of another mobility startup in Sweden. Other than the three co-founders we also have two super-skilled developers and we’re looking to hire four more people this year.

Co-founders of Cogo: Martin Røssell (CTO), Bibi Blomqvist (COO) and Robin Eriksson (CEO)

After we closed our investment round earlier this year we also formed a professional board with Pia Vemmelund (former momondo CEO), Jens Willumsen (former momondo chairman/investor) and Thomas Weikop (serial entrepreneur turned investor).

What is Cogo’s biggest challenge at the moment?

We need to understand the challenges we’re dealing with here, every week there are 1 million people moving into our cities, and 70% of our emissions comes from the cities, so we have a huge challenge to build sustainable cities as they are today. There are 300 million cars in Europe, and half of all car trips are less than 5 km, so many of these trips could be replaced by walking, biking or other types of mobility solutions. The cars are also parked 95% of their lifetime and this shows how inefficient car ownership is but also how important convenience is for people. Surely this isn’t the dream that we have in mind for sustainable cities?

At the same time, there are studies that show that shared mobility can reduce the car fleet by ⅓ if shared mobility were widely adopted. That would mean 100 million fewer cars on the roads in Europe which would save €33B in traffic congestion and 460 million tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Creating sustainable cities is one of the most important issues that we have to solve in our lifetime and at Cogo we’re working to help unleash the full potential of shared mobility to help this transition.

Where do you see Cogo in the next 5 years?

We’re a household name across Europe and the #1 app for shared mobility. We’ll have a great workplace with happy and energized people that are passionate about the challenges that we’re up against.

HelloFlow was founded in Copenhagen in June 2020 by Mikkel Skarnager (ex-Saxo Bank) and Ciprian Florescu (ex-Nets Group).

Using their professional expertise, they have created a tool that helps financial institutions onboard their clients digitally. Their solution, which may be similar with services like a CRO Expert Audit, can increase customer conversion by nearly 60% – all at a reasonable price, for more info you can always hire a company like CIC.

In October 2020, HelloFlow closed its first investment round led by a high-profile angel investor Susanne Brønnum – former CEO of Nets Denmark.

The startup has now raised 1.4 million EUR in a Seed Round led by PreSeed Ventures and Seedcamp, along with some prominent angel investors. The funding received has exceeded the initial target.

The founders’ experience and vision is what has especially impressed Alexander Viterbo-Horten, Investment Director at PreSeed Ventures prior to investing in HelloFlow:

“I and our entire team at PreSeed Ventures have been impressed by Mikkel and Ciprian from the first meeting. There is not only a very strong founder market fit due to their relevant experience, especially with Mikkel’s insight from building a bespoke solution for Saxo Bank, but as a team, they move with an incredible speed and continue to prove a high level of execution skill”.

The majority of financial institutions continue using traditional onboarding techniques based on manual processes, which is often too complicated for both the customer and the service provider.

HelloFlow is making digital onboarding simple and accessible by providing a no-code solution with an intuitive interface. Everything – from scratch to launch – can be done by just a single person and implemented within a day, rather than months. As HelloFlow’s co-founder and CEO, Mikkel Skarnager comments:

“Using the platform, you can set up a proper, sleek, and compliant onboarding process and share it with the clients, all inside a single day. This makes it possible to launch your service in new markets across the world within 10 minutes”.

About the new investment Tom Wilson, Partner at Seedcamp, comments:

‍“HelloFlow’s plug and play solution is a real game-changer for client onboarding, allowing companies to set up processes quickly without the need for custom code. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with Mikkel and Ciprian and support them in helping companies say goodbye to slow client onboarding.”

HelloFlow is constantly growing and growing its team on the mission to revolutionize the traditional onboarding process. The investment will fuel HelloFlow’s continued expansion and development of the platform.

Today we are publishing an article from Alexey Stoletny, who would like to share his knowledge and expertise with the Øresund Startup News community when it comes to startups’ common mistakes and how they could be avoided.

Alexey has more than 10 years of experience working with startups in Europe and North America. Currently he is employed as CTO at Clean.io, as well as Managing Director at Sigma Software Inc. in the USA.

This article will be of interest not only to those who are only launching their projects, but also to those who are working with startups.

Read Alexey’s tips below:

The most common pitfalls for startups

Quite often, when we start working with a new startup, I ask a question: What is, in your opinion, the most important thing for your project in the first weeks and months?

I get very different answers:

to attract clients

to come up with cool new features

to do market research

to build new relationships

In fact, your most critical task at the very beginning is to test your business idea for viability and check whether it’s working or not.

Here is an example.

Suppose, you’ve decided to start a window-selling company. What are you going to do first? Probably, you’ll think about how your windows will be different from the competitors, decide on the materials and colors, order handles that fit your fingers – that is, you will spend a whole year and all your resources on it. All this just to discover that nobody is going to buy your windows because the materials you chose get cracked in the wind anywhere higher than the tenth floor.

What you need is a proof of concept. Using a minimal set of features and spending a minimal share of your resources on it. You have to continually crash-test your project to detect problems, which can fail your product at the very beginning.

Going back to the windows – instead of wasting time and money on choosing colors, handles and other stuff, you should test how one material you have chosen behaves in various conditions. If it gets cracks, you need another one. You test another one, and it proves too costly? Test more, and keep testing until you find the ideal option, which will allow you to work further.

Don’t overload your product

Your business model has to work in reality, not in your imagination. To understand this, you shouldn’t overload your product with extra features. Opt for the minimum. But when you choose, do it wisely. One common mistake of startups is choosing wrong or unnecessary features for the first stage. Your functionality, however minimal, has to provide the full cycle already at the initial stage. If you have made windows, but failed to consider glass panes, you will not test whether your business model is viable. It will not work just because it lacks essential parts. This idea is best represented in the Minimum Viable Product diagram. You have to consider all layers rather than focus on just one of them.

Search for clients and monetization model from the start

Another common misconception is that “Signing contracts is reasonable only when the product is fully ready to use”. It’s wrong. You should look for clients and sell them your product right from the start. Sure, in the beginning its price will be far lower than what you were planning – just because your solution is not quite ready yet. However, it will give you a chance to test your idea in real-life conditions, get some customer feedback and, finally, get some money to invest in refining your product.

By the way, it’s best not to linger with monetization either. You can often hear, “We’ll launch the application for free, win some target audience, and then start charging for it.” It’s a mistake. Trust me, the users who have received your product for free will not want to pay for it later on. Some other users will have installed your application exactly because it was free. It’s important to monetize from the very beginning – maybe, at a lower price.

One more thing – don’t overdo with improvement and optimization – this advice is both for those who own a startup and those who work with one. The optimization will improve your product, if you take a balanced approach. But you don’t often see this.

Determine key success factors

No one monitors or analyzes whether your product will really do good, or it will about those ‘good intentions’. Will the refactoring suggested by a developer really be a benefit, or only a setback?

How can you control this? You have to do research to determine what factors will be important for the business, which improvements will really enable a faster development and which will not, to draw some metrics and define the KPIs. The latter have to bring value to the product and to the business. Improvements like “We used to have 100 lines of code, and now only 90” will not do. Your actions have to cut costs, reduce time, or help to sell the product – only in this case they are worth spending time, money and energy.

About team motivation

If your team is motivated and feels responsible for the product they are developing, it’s evident that each of them will want to improve something, whether in the processes, approaches, the code, etc.

Team motivation doesn’t depend on the project but rather on how the work process is built. Quite often, you get to observe situations where the team members don’t know the concept and don’t understand the specifics of the future product, who it is for and what problems it will help to solve. To fill in this gap, all team members make their own assumptions, which can be very far from the truth. Lack of communication between the business and the team leads exactly to this problem. Sometimes you see how developers are intentionally ‘shut out’ from the customer, where they can only communicate with the project manager. This style of work will inevitably lead to some information loss. The team will not feel involved or committed to the project, they will not understand why certain decisions are made, they will not take pride in the work done – as a result, the team will be demotivated.

Whether you are a startup founder, a product owner, a project manager, or a developer – you are to be interested in establishing continuous effective communication with one another.

***

Thank you, Alexey, for sharing your tips!

Cogo, the service that collects all shared vehicles in one app, raises €1 million from PreSeed Ventures and high-profile business angels, such as momondo’s former CEO, Pia Vemmelund, the early investor in momondo Jens Willumsen, and the investor Thomas Weikop. The Innovation Fund in Denmark has also awarded Cogo their Innofounder-grant.

Copenhagen-based startup was founded in 2020 by Robin Eriksson and Bibi Blomqvist, both former high-ranking managers of the travel site momondo, who recently expanded their founding team with Martin Røssell as CTO, momondo’s co-founder.

Pia Vemmelund, Investor and Board member of Cogo, on the investment: “I believe in the team and there are many similarities between the upcoming Cogo trip and the trip that the team and I had with momondo. With a higher purpose that I support, a team I trust and a market with very promising future prospects, it was an easy decision to invest and support Cogo. I really look forward to working with this team again.”

Alexander Viterbo-Horten, Investment Director of PreSeed Ventures, on the investment: “We have heard thousands of entrepreneurs pitch and after investing in 400 of them, we know that in the earliest stages, it is the team that distinguishes the best from the rest. It’s exceptional to see a founding team like Cogo’s. Their experience from building momondo from the ground up to an acquisition of almost SEK 5 billion from Booking Holdings will be a great advantage when we grow. The results they have proven with Cogo in such a short time are very impressive.”

Cogo is changing the booming mobility market and its goal is to solve the transparency and infrastructure problems while unleashing the full potential of shared mobility. The market for shared mobility has exploded in an extremely short time. Today, it is valued at €6 billion but is estimated to be worth over €435 billion by 2030.

There are hundreds of mobility operators across Europe, and there are often so many opinions. The rapid development has led to a fragmented market where rules and infrastructure have not had time to keep up, while users have no transparency in price, availability or service terms.

“We have previously helped millions of users find and compare the best flight and travel offers and we are now taking our experience from momondo to the market for shared mobility. With Cogo, we strive to unleash the untapped potential of this new industry. The major problems for users and politicians stop the many benefits of switching from private cars to shared mobility, which can reduce traffic jams and, most importantly, reduce CO2 emissions. We are convinced that Cogo will have a positive impact on the market in the future,” – Robin Eriksson, co-founder of Cogo.

The Cogo app was launched last year, in the middle of the Corona pandemic, and the app searches over 160 mobility operators for manual or electric scooters, bicycles, cars and mopeds. Cogo is currently available in 9 languages (Danish, English, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish) and its free services can be used in over 500 cities worldwide.

Many businesses have had a very challenging and discouraging year with the pandemic, but some startups have been able to continue getting profits and growth. Ulobby, that provides a digital tool for Public Affairs, is one of the successful ones. For the second year in a row the Copenhagen- and Brussels-based startup is featured as one of the best intelligence systems in Brussels by BestinBrussels.eu.

Today we are publishing an interview with Ulobby’s CEO Anders Kopp Jensen, who shares about doing international business in a pandemic.

Anders Kopp Jensen, CEO of Ulobby

Thanks for joining us! It has been a few months since our last post about Ulobby. What has been going with the startup?

Since the last time we have closed 2020, which in spite of the global pandemic, actually was another good growth year for Ulobby.

There are certain drivers in our marketplace right now which continues to drive demand: On the macro level, as political risk and uncertainty rises in the tail wind of COVID-19, Public Affairs is uniquely suited to assume a more business-critical position as the value at stake from regulatory changes or intervention is enormous.

Looking at the micro level, in the beginning of the pandemic, I was asked quite often about the health of our business as Public Affairs or lobbyism is – for many – synonymous with 1:1 meetings, network lunching and drinks in dim lighted bars. Network is important, but as I have stressed many times since we established Ulobby in 2016, this perception, of how you actually get influence, is both misunderstood but also changing as AI-generated data insights will play a bigger role in Public Affairs, especially once the main-stream or late majority segment – in an “S-curve” terminology – see themselves how technology can actually increase their performance. So in short, these drivers really formed 2020 in our space and drove demand up.

How has it been with the expansion in the Nordics?

We have increased our market share in the Nordics overall in 2020, and will launch officially in Sweden during the coming months. We were of course concerned that we could not travel as much and get boots on the ground, but it has actually not been a big blocker for us in terms of converting leads to clients which means our CAC has also been reduced.

Any reflections on managing or working in a startup during the pandemic? How has your team kept their spirits up while working remotely?

As we have had a “remote first” culture from the get-go it has not been a big challenge for the team to adjust to more workdays from home. We now have 23 colleagues spread across 6 destinations in Europe, so Slack was also the preferred communications channel internally pre-COVID. But of course the social energy you get from eating lunch with your colleagues or flying the whole gang to a team retreat like we do a couple times a year usually, of course we all feel we miss these things. To try to compensate for this we have implemented virtual coffee breaks and Friday bars as well as arranged virtual mindfullness session. We have also sent a few “swag packs” during the pandemic and tried to surprise the team a bit.

We have read that you have started a podcast on Public Affairs, exciting! Would you like to share a little about it with our readers?

Yes, so the podcast is now out both on Apple podcast and Spotify and is called “The Persuaders”. In the podcast we dive in to how Public Affairs professionals solve their daily challenges, their trials and tribulations and their tips and tricks. The idea for the podcast came after I in 2020 wrote a book called “The Public Affairs Engine”, a guide on how to build and fuel the PA engine in your organization. The guide was based on more than 500 conversations with PA professionals across Europe and there was just so many interesting findings so I had to create a forum for sharing and discussing these topics further. And the podcast has just been so amazingly well received so far.

What are Ulobby’s plans for the upcoming months?

Our continued expansion on two fronts: in the Nordics and Brussels. We have recently launched a new product line on top of the SaaS-platform called “surveys and reports”. We have for some time been aware of a big pain for our target group: measuring performance and legitimizing their work internally. So we decided to add this product line, and – powered by Ulobby data and intelligence as well as polls – the users can now get a better sense of their performance, and share them internally in a smart and visual way as well as order polls through us. It has been very well received so now we are looking in to have we can add more layers of intelligence to this product line.

What will be the first thing your team and you do when you return to the office after the lockdown?

We have a history in Ulobby of eating a lot of good food together at nice restaurants all over Europe. So my guess is that we all look forward to going out for a nice dinner. I think something almost magical happens when you sit down together and share a good meal. Personally I also look forward to meeting our new team members in real life for the first time. We hired quite a few new team members in 2020 which we due to COVID-19 have never met. So I look forward to meeting them and hearing about their governments and political systems – the Ulobbyist are political wonks after all.

MyMonii, founded by Louise Ferslev in Copenhagen in 2015, is an app for the whole family that makes it fun and easy for children and young people to learn about the value of money.

Children and young people can get an overview of their expenses as well as set financial goals, while parents are given a simple tool to manage pocket money and savings. The startup also provides a MyMonii Mastercard.

The fintech startup raised an investment of roughly €675 000, and has now taken the first small steps towards an international growth journey.

The capital injection comes from the five business angels Jakob Bendsen, Morten Møller Holst, Sune Alstrup, Louise Ertman Baunsgaard and Susanne Brønnum as well as through a business angel matching loan from Vækstfonden who helps entrepreneurs with average or poor credit. The latter three business angels have played key roles in companies such as The Eye Tribe, Letz Sushi and Nets.

“We have proven that there is a willingness to pay to have a card and a digital savings for children and young people under the age of 15, and we are now at a place where we are ready to scale. Our new investors bring skills and experience that will have a positive impact on us in this journey,” – says Louise Ferslev, CEO and founder of MyMonii.

The capital injection will be used to develop and refine the elements that will further strengthen MyMonii’s product and create growth both locally and overseas. Right now, Germany in particular is of interest to the fintech company, and the initial market analyses are expected to begin shortly.

In parallel with the investment round, MyMonii has relaunched its app, where the focus has been on creating a top-class user experience. It is essential to have a young audience that expects a fast and simple digital experience.

“A fintech startup like us must never rest on our laurels and feel that we have hit the spot. We are on a constant mission to find out what users want – before they even know it. This is what has made us a leader in the field in Denmark and hopefully also soon abroad,” – says Louise Ferslev.

Today, there is both a free and premium version of the app for Android and iOS, which has been downloaded more than 230 000 times.
