The company, that currently employs 85 people in Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, and Great Britain, is releasing the first phone, “Solarin”, in May. The development has been led by Fredrik Öijer, who has previously been project manager at Ericsson, Sony Mobile, and Sony Ericsson, reports Di Digital 

Though the phone itself is a mystery (as is the cost) there are two things that we can now say for certain:

They have a really cool-looking site (“Tomorrow’s technology, today”, it tells you as you enter, and then the message is replaced by a spinning, glowing, orb, that looks like something straight from Tomb Raider 2), and the phone will take personal security, and service, very seriously, something that will with all probability be reflected on the price tag.

            “As opposed to other tech companies, that focuse on price, Sirin Labs doesn’t have to wait several years before we can provide our customers with the latest technology”, Tal Cohen, CEO of Sirin Labs, says in an interview with DI Digital.

            “Price does not determine our decisions – the best function and quality do”.

The company will establish its department in Mobile Heights, Lund.

This is the problem Veridu is addressing, with a solution based on advanced algorithms, and social media.

The company has created a way to score the trustworthiness of an identity, and this has attracted the attention of payment-processing company Worldpay Group, that has now decided to invest in currently London-based startup, The News Hub reports.

“We believe identity lies at the heart of payments….by verifying shoppers via their digital identity, Veridu’s technology delivers an additional level of security for higher risk transactions,” – says Ron Kalifa, Vice Chairman at Worldpay, in an interview with The News Hub

As the world becomes more and more global, with consumers who want to purchase goods from all over the world, the need for this type of service is increasing.

 “Online businesses who want to compete successfully on a global level can find themselves limited by their ability to verify the identity of their users, especially in some developing countries, where large segments of the population have been excluded from traditional financial services, or may not have official identity documents,” – says Veridu CEO Rasmus Groth, who founded the company back in 2012.

Many businesses today are declining transactions that are actually legitimate, due to verification systems that do not work in the customer’s country. This means that the type of solution Veridu offers can affect revenues directly.

“The investment from Worldpay shows that the payments industry is looking at how they can adapt processes for today’s more global and connected consumers”, says Rasmus Groth.

And the electric car they’re building is not far from it. Unity has a steering wheel that is more like a joystick, an entirely electronic steering system, and a recognition function, that would allow the car to open the door before the owner even reaches it, which means that the Lund-based company is on its way to really challenge the traditional auto-market.

The company, which was just registered this very year, is trying to build an electric car that will divert from the traditional market, and create a new nisch. Unity is supposed to be released in the spring of 2017. It will have a max speed of 90 km an hour, with a reach of 15 Swedish miles (150 km).

Jesper Buch will stay with the company, while the three founders – Mads Lund, Mads Schjolin, and Henrik Lysgaard – will leave, which is not due to a disagreement, but to a wish for new challenges, reported in TrendsOnline.

“It’s been a good journey with my former partners, and together we have created a business with interesting prospects. The founders have decided to break new ground, and I look forward to following the new team’s struggle to continue to create value for Drinkster’s members and partners,” – said Jesper Buch in a press release.

Ole Holdgaard, who was the former export manager at Just-Eat, the online intermediary in between customers and take-away restaurants (a company Buch founded, along with three other people, back in 2000), will be the new director for Drinkster.

The company, which already in 2012 won an award for Best Danish Student Start-Up, now has more than 50 000 members, in over 20 Danish cities.

“It is an entrepreneur’s duty”, Buch said on Facebook, pointing to the fact that if there is not enough motivation in a company, there needs to come new blood to said company. Buch and Casper Bloom are going to stay on as investors, while the founders will move on to other projects.
