Seed Capital, one of Denmark’s most established early-stage venture capital firms, has closed its fifth fund, Seed Capital Fund V, at € 130 million. With this new fund, Seed Capital is expanding its focus beyond Denmark to back 15–17 seed-stage companies across the Nordics in FinTech, Cybersecurity and Resilience, and AI-driven B2B solutions.

For over 20 years, Seed Capital has been a pioneer in backing Danish founders. Now, with Fund V, the firm is leveraging its expertise and fund model to support high-potential startups across the Nordic region. The fund’s investment thesis centers on three key verticals:

Reinventing financial infrastructure (FinTech)

Enhancing cybersecurity and resilience

Transforming SMBs and enterprises (AI-driven B2B)

“Broadening into the Nordics is a natural move for us and it’s been important for us to get the right team, with strong expertise and global mindset. Together with Geeta Schmidt and Lars Andersen, we have formed a partner team with both company building and venture growth expertise, with the goal of scaling them globally. This is also reflected in what we’re looking for in the founders we back, founders building global winners”

said Christian Broendum, Managing Partner at Seed Capital

Strong LP Support and Early Investments

Seed Capital’s Fund V is backed by a diverse group of limited partners (LPs), including Realdania, EIFO, Dansk Vækst Kapital, Sampension, Lauritzen Fonden, Augustinus Fonden, family offices, and angel investors.

“Seed has been one of the cornerstones of the Danish venture ecosystem for more than 20 years, helping build and scale many of Denmark’s most successful technology companies. With a new generation of partners, a proven platform, and fresh capital, Seed is well positioned to continue backing the most ambitious founders and strengthening the Danish and Nordic startup ecosystem,”

said Alexander Knudsen, investor at EIFO

The fund has already made its first investments, including Norlix, Blackbird Coffee, Fortiv, Moxso, Pluto Markets, Repodo, and Oplane, with more to come.

BioInnovation Institute (BII) this week announced that six promising startups will receive additional funding of € 1.3 million each. The new funding will help the companies mature their technologies, strengthen their businesses and take the next steps towards commercial application.

The six companies – PanTarg, 3Sonic, Inia Biosciences, Yngvi Bio, Proxi Biotech and Sagava – have all previously received € 500.000 in funding from BII. With the new funds allocated, each company has now received a total of € 1.8 million from BII.

The continued funding also comes with access to BII’s internationally recognized innovation platform in the heart of Copenhagen. Here, the companies gain access to advanced laboratory facilities, a global network of investors, advisors and strategic partners, as well as expertise in business development and commercialisation.

“The six companies have demonstrated strong potential and have already taken important steps from promising research to developing solutions that can make a real difference. With continued funding, they have the opportunity to accelerate their development and focus even more on their path towards the market.”

says Trine Bartholdy, Chief Business Officer at BII

BII’s ambition is not only to provide funding, but also to give the companies the right framework and expertise to develop into strong, international businesses.

“It is precisely at this stage that the combination of capital, strong expertise and the right network can make a decisive difference. We see significant potential in all six companies, and our role is to help them turn their technologies into sustainable businesses and products that can create value for patients, society and investors,”

says Trine Bartholdy

With the new funding, the six companies are better positioned to further develop their technologies, attract additional external capital and bring their solutions closer to commercial market application.

The six companies receiving additional financial support from BII are:

3Sonic

3Sonic is developing a new imaging technology based on 3D ultrasound and artificial intelligence, designed to enable surgeons to assess cancer tissue in real time during surgery. The aim is to increase the precision of cancer surgery and improve patient outcomes. 3Sonic is a spin-out from Rigshospitalet and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

Sagava

Sagava is working to reduce CO2 emissions from the maritime sector by converting waste into sustainable biofuels and energy. The company’s technology aims to help decarbonise shipping by utilising waste resources to produce biogenic fuels. Sagava is a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

Inia Biosciences

Inia Biosciences is developing new treatments for inflammatory diseases, with psoriasis as its initial focus. The company is working to transform the treatment of inflammation and develop more effective therapeutic solutions for patients suffering from inflammatory diseases. Inia Biosciences originally emerged from the innovation ecosystems in Boston and Oxford.

Yngvi Bio

Yngvi Bio is developing biological solutions to combat agricultural pests. Through targeted pest control, the company aims to protect crops while reducing the impact on biodiversity, the environment and human health. The goal is to contribute to a more sustainable food production system. Yngvi Bio is a spin-out from the University of Copenhagen.

PanTarg

PanTarg is developing a new type of antibody-based cancer treatment that combines two targeted attacks in a single therapy. The company’s technology is particularly aimed at aggressive cancers, including pancreatic cancer, where there remains a significant need for more effective treatments. PanTarg is a spin-out from the University of Copenhagen and Rigshospitalet, founded by researchers Lars H. Engelholm and Virginia Metrangolo. The company is also a partner in a major research project for the period 2026–2030, supported by the Innovation Fund Denmark, focusing on enabling drugs to cross the blood-brain barrier.

Proxi Biotech

Proxi Biotech is developing a novel vaccine-based immunotherapy for recurrent bacterial infections. The company’s lead candidate targets recurrent infections caused by Clostridium difficile, which can affect patients repeatedly and become chronic. The technology is intended to provide an alternative to treatments such as faecal microbiota transplantation. Proxi Biotech is a spin-out from Statens Serum Institut (SSI), Denmark’s national public health institute.

Last week, the Denmark-Sweden Summit was held as one of the events at TechBBQ 2026. The aim was to learn more about the development of innovation, research and entrepreneurship across the Øresund region.

This summit was organized by Øresundsinstituttet and Greater Copenhagen that brought together professionals and representatives from research institutions, science parks, incubators, industry organisations and public sectors to talk and discuss about the opportunities and challenges in building stronger cross-border innovation regions.

One of the session was the discussion about “The Øresund region as a hotspot for Danish-Swedish innovation and research” which brought five panelists: Anders G Nilsson, CEO of Ideon Science Park; Anette Steenberg, CEO of Medicon Valley Alliance; Markus Herrgård, CTO of BioInnovation Institute; Petter Hartman, CEO of Medicon Village Innovation; and Thomas Unt, Head of Incubation at Medeon Science Park.

The strengths of having research institutions, science parks, incubators, and companies located within close geographical proximity but different countries was a topic in the discussion. One remark that stood out during was when a panelist was being asked about his plans for the day where he said “I’m having breakfast in Lund, Lunch in Copenhagen and dinner in Helsingborg.” This statement highlights the geographical closeness and the mobility convenience of the Øresund region.

Turning proximity into innovation

The Øresund region already houses an impressive 13 universities, multiple major research infrastructure, science parks, incubators, and a growing startup ecosystem. Facilitating an environment where research and entrepreneurship can meet.

Startups in the Øresund region have an advantage of access not only cross border but also a wider pool of talent, research expertise, investors, infrastructure, and potential partners. In the long run it can create opportunities to collaborate beyond their national ecosystem. That is why although the Øresund Bridge physically connects Denmark and Sweden, beyond that the region’s innovation ecosystem actually depends more on people crossing borders, institutions collaborating, and ideas moving freely between communities.

One month after tech company Elva11, which in part was based in Tretton37, filed for bankruptcy, an acquirer has emerged: Acke Salem, a well-known serial entrepreneur and founder of Edument. Rapidus was first to report he has acquired the assets and operations of Elva11 from the bankruptcy estate.

Elva11, founded in early 2025 by Jim Roslund (founder of Additude), had an all-star board and funding from a Dubai-based investment firm. Despite this, the company was forced into bankruptcy in August, partly due to a sharp decline in revenue growth in the Swedish consulting industry and financing issues.

Elva11 has its roots in Tretton37, the once highly successful tech development company from Lund.

“Edument is acquiring the Elva11 brand and the company’s assets. There is a strong legacy from Tretton37 here, with talented people, valuable customer relationships and a culture that has meant a lot to the tech community in the region. We saw an opportunity to preserve those values and give them a new platform to grow from,”

Acke Salem said.

Edument, which Acke Salem co-founded, has evolved from its strong association with training to now primarily focus on advanced software development and large-scale tech projects, including work in the energy sector (its training operations now spun off as Edument Training).

Acke Salem says that regarding Elva11, the current focus is on supporting its people and customers while ensuring as much continuity as possible. He says Edument is engaging with both employees and clients, aiming to integrate a significant portion of Elva11’s expertise into its own operations.

“This acquisition is also part of a bigger ambition for Edument. We want to scale the business significantly over the coming years, both organically and through acquisitions. Our focus is on building a strong technology company around senior expertise, long-term customer relationships and the ability to take greater responsibility for complete projects rather than simply providing individual consultants,”

Acke Salem said.

A group of prominent figures from the Swedish e-commerce industry has joined forces to launch Future Retail Ventures, a new fund designed to support early-stage e-commerce companies that have graduated from E-commerce Park of Scandinavia’s successful incubator program.

The initiative, long in the making, aims to bridge the gap between early-stage startups and institutional funding.

“If we had this fund in place from year one of the incubator, we would have made more than six times our investment by now – and that’s a conservative estimate,”

says Karsten Deppert, co-founder of E-commerce Park.

Future Retail Ventures focuses on investing in early-stage e-commerce companies that have completed E-commerce Park’s one-year incubator program. The fund is backed by a roster of e-commerce veterans, including Ludvig Friberg (CarpetVista), Eric Smith (Uteprodukter), Philip Lexander (Fotbutiken), Amelie Henningsson (Eqvital), Andreas Wedberg (Räckesbutiken), and Erik Urnes (Lindengruppen).

The fund has already completed its first investments in Sugarbeet Co, Dryckbolaget, Mini Ferrum, and Làhku Nordisk Brodyr, companies operating across various e-commerce segments but sharing strong growth potential and driven entrepreneurs.

“It’s not just about investing in companies. We’re investing in entrepreneurs we believe in and want to support,”

says Amelie Henningsson, investor and board member of Future Retail Ventures

The fund’s approach goes beyond capital, emphasizing mentorship, networking, and community-building to help startups reach their full potential.

A Boost for Mini Ferrum and Sugarbeet

For Mini Ferrum, a startup specializing in innovative iron supplements, the investment came at a critical growth phase.

“A lot has happened since we were in the incubator. Demand for our products continues to grow, and we recently hit the milestone of 1,000 orders per month,”

says Daniel Melander, co-founder of Mini Ferrum

The support from Future Retail Ventures has provided new perspectives and valuable connections, helping the company scale faster.

Similarly, Sugarbeet is leveraging the fund’s capital, experience, and network to accelerate its growth.

“At this stage, the right support can make a huge difference. The combination of funding, expertise, and access to a strong network allows us to grow faster and more strategically than we could on our own,”

says Linus Löfgren, co-founder of Sugarbeet.

Future Retail Ventures represents a natural next step for the entrepreneurial ecosystem that has grown around E-commerce Park in recent years.

“With this fund, we can help more companies develop while strengthening the entire e-commerce and entrepreneurship ecosystem,”

says Karsten Deppert.

Transparency: Karsten Deppert is besides co-founder of E-commerce Park of Scandinavia also initiator and active contributer to Øresund Startup News.

NordAmps, a Lund-based deep-tech company specializing in high-performance circuits for communication systems, has received conditional approval from Nasdaq Stockholm to list its shares on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market.

NordAmps is a deep-tech innovator in high-performance circuits for communication systems, leveraging its proprietary vertical nanowire transistor technology. This technology integrates indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs), a high-performance III-V semiconductor material, with standardized silicon substrates, combining superior electrical performance with the scalability and cost-efficiency of silicon.

”The listing represents an important milestone in NordAmps’ development. Through strengthened capital resources and a broader shareholder base, we are creating the conditions to accelerate the commercialization of our technology and take the next step toward establishing a position in a global market with significant potential ahead of us.”

says Jan Andersson, CEO of NordAmps

Founded in 2017 as a spin-off from over two decades of nanoelectronics research at Lund University, NordAmps has evolved into a leading provider of high-performance circuits for applications such as satellite communication, telecom infrastructure, 5G/6G, defense, radar, and advanced sensing. The company operates under a fabless business model, focusing on technology development, circuit design, and customer relationships, while partnering with external manufacturers for production.

A significant milestone was achieved in 2025 through a collaboration with Finnish VTT, aimed at establishing a scalable European production chain capable of meeting demands for volume, quality, and cost efficiency.

”Through the listing, we are broadening our shareholder base, strengthening our access to the capital markets, and increasing our visibility among both potential investors and potential commercial partners.”

says Jan Johannesson, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NordAmps

The company announced its initial public offering (IPO). The subscription period is expected to run from September 7 to September 21, 2026, with the first day of trading anticipated for September 30, 2026, under the ticker symbol NRDAMP.

NordAmps has already secured subscription undertakings representing 81.9% of the offering. The Offering is open to the general public in Sweden and Finland, as well as institutional investors, with a minimum subscription of 360 shares (SEK 5,580).

TechBBQ 2026 returned on 26-27 August to Bella Center Copenhagen, bringing the theme “Emerging from Agency”. Thousands of participants ranging from founders, innovators, working professionals, policymakers, investors and even students gathered to explore opportunities and display the latest ideas and innovation on the technology sectors.

During these two-day TechBBQ created multiple stages each with its own themed corners running simultaneously. As an attendee to this event, the main challenge was not to find something interesting to do but to actually decide which one to go to due to the large varieties of topics and activities provided across the venue.

Something for Everyone

The programme was spread across multiple spaces throughout the venue: the Main Stage, three dedicated Grill Session corners — Orange, Green, and Blue —, the Diversity Lounge, Firecamp Corner, six event rooms, the Life Science & Deep Tech Stage, and the Longevity Corner. When navigating an event as big as the TechBBQ, downloading the Brella app is essential to know what events are happening across the venue.

The main stage, grill session and firecamp corner, offers insights and stories from founders ranging from what they are currently building to the challenges they faced during the process and providing tips on how they overcame those challenges.

The diversity lounge held by Women in Tech offers a place for attendees to interact, exchange perspectives and converse about DEJI (Diversity, Equity, Justice, Inclusion), Leadership & Culture, AI & Machine Learning and Social Investment & Skills.

TechBBQ also opened the door to perspectives from different parts of the world. Separate sessions explored Denmark and Sweden, India in the Nordics, and Africa, bringing discussions about entrepreneurship, innovation, and the development of startup ecosystems into a broader international context.

Among the founders, investors, and experienced professionals, we also noticed many students running their first startups attending TechBBQ.

Their presence was a reminder that startup ecosystems are not built only by people who are already running successful companies. Students and early-career professionals are also part of the ecosystem – as future founders, employees, researchers, communicators, and community builders. For them, events like TechBBQ provide a chance to step outside the classroom, hear directly from entrepreneurs, explore industries they may not have encountered before, and start building connections early.

Already looking forward to next years TechBBQ!
