The Danish e-commerce industry gathered this week to celebrate its brightest stars at E-handelsprisen 2026, the country’s most prestigious awards for digital retail innovation.

The event highlighted standout performances in customer experience, B2B and B2C excellence, export growth, and community-building, with OMHU CPH emerging as the night’s biggest winner, taking home three awards, including the coveted Gold Award (Guldprisen).

OMHU CPH Dominates with Social-First Strategy and Global Growth

OMHU CPH was crowned the overall winner of Guldprisen 2026 for its explosive growth and innovative approach to e-commerce. In just a few years, the brand has transformed from a challenger into an international powerhouse, driven by a social-first strategy, made-to-order production, and a no-discount policy. With 42 showrooms globally, 84% of revenue from exports, and 153% year-over-year growth, OMHU CPH has redefined what it means to scale a modern e-commerce business.

The company also won Best Export E-Commerce Business and Best New E-Commerce Business, solidifying its position as a leader in global digital retail.

Collaboration and Innovation Take Center Stage

The Best E-Commerce Case (Supplier & Customer) award went to Matas + Hesehus for their long-standing partnership, which has continuously raised the bar for customer experience and operational efficiency. Their seamless integration of digital and physical channels has set a new standard for omnichannel retail.

EET Group + Vertica took second place for their pan-European B2B platform, while Eventyrsport + Vertica secured third place for their focused, value-driven digital transformation.

In the Best Cohesive Customer Experience category, BabySam won first place for its deep understanding of customer needs, achieving a 96% marketing permission rate and high loyalty. Matas followed in second place for its seamless omnichannel experience, and Champagne For Alle took third for its community-driven approach, with 63% repeat purchase rates and 50% organic traffic.

B2B and B2C Leaders Recognized

For B2B companies with online revenue under €66 million (DKK 500 million), AO Workwear won first place for its AI-driven sizing tools and strong bottom-line growth. Vetnordic and Kjær & Sommerfeldt took second and third, respectively, for their innovative digital solutions and sustainable practices.

In the B2C category under €13 million (DKK 100 million), Gastrotools won for its end-to-end product and brand strategy, while Maya Freya and Basic+Ally followed in second and third. For B2C companies over €13 million, Dilling took the top spot for its data-driven production and international expansion, with OMHU CPH and Matas rounding out the podium.

Special Recognition for Community Builders

The Special Prize for Best Community went to PlusPige for creating a safe, engaging space for plus-size women, with 8,000 daily active members and 82% user-generated content. Momkind took second place for its authentic, purpose-driven community, and Geekd secured third for its highly engaged gaming audience.

On September 14, 2026 something the robotics industry has long been missing lands in Malmö: a robotics event done differently. Autonomy is a one-day conference at the intersection of robotics, physical AI and industry, slotted between European Conference on Computer Vision 2026 (ECCV) (September 8–12) and The Drop (September 15–16). For a week, the Öresund region becomes a center of gravity for one of the decade’s most consequential technology fronts.

Robotics and AI events are not in short supply. Most follow the same template: startups on stage, investors in the audience. Autonomy brings researchers into the room alongside industrial buyers, with investors and startups around them, worlds that rarely meet, in one venue for a day.

The event is a collaboration between the robotics startup Staer and The Drop. And similar to The Drop, the format is built around focused roundtables, small-group discussions, expert-led conversations, and keynotes which are designed to get the right people into conversations that normally wouldn’t happen.

“I’m very excited about this”

said Jan-Erik Solem, co-founder Staer and initiator

Why Malmö, why 2026

With the ECCV and The Drop flanking it inside the same week, a critical mass of researchers, founders, industrials, and capital is converging in a way that rarely happens elsewhere in Europe. For Öresund’s deeptech scene – which has quietly built strength in hardware, life science and industrial software – Autonomy is, quite frankly, an inevitable event. And a well-suited one.

As the global shift toward a circular economy gains momentum, investors are increasingly seeking ways to identify, fund, and scale the most promising circular solutions. On April 28, Lokomotivværkstedet in Copenhagen will host an exclusive Investor Dialogue, co-located with the LOOP Forum, bringing together capital providers, corporate venture scouts, and Nordic funds to explore how to build resilient circular portfolios.

A Unique Opportunity for Investors

This invitation-only session is designed for investors looking to navigate the complexities of circular innovation—from early-stage science-based solutions to market-ready technologies. The event will feature a blitz panel, roundtable discussions, and open networking, all structured to foster practical insights, real-world examples, and cross-border collaborations.

Key themes include:

Scaling science-based solutions for industrial resilience

Safeguarding IP and legal resilience

Syndicating for growth and risk-sharing

Why Attend?

The circular economy is not just a trend—it’s a necessity for sustainable industrial and economic growth. However, investors often face challenges such as “death by pilot,” regulatory hurdles, and the gap between technical readiness and market entry. This event aims to address these issues head-on, offering actionable strategies for structuring portfolios that are both resilient and future-proof.

1. Scaling Science-Based Solutions

How can capital accelerate the transition from pilot projects to scalable, market-ready solutions? The session will explore best practices for bridging the gap between innovation and commercialization, ensuring that groundbreaking circular technologies reach their full potential.

2. Safeguarding IP & Legal Resilience

Intellectual property is a cornerstone of value creation in circular tech. The event will feature case studies and expert insights on protecting IP, avoiding common pitfalls, and navigating shifting regulations—helping investors secure long-term value in their portfolios.

3. Syndicating for Growth

Collaboration is key to scaling circular solutions. The dialogue will highlight existing tracks and partnerships for pooling capital and sharing risk across borders, enabling investors to leverage collective expertise and resources.

A Stellar Lineup of Speakers

The event will feature a diverse panel of globally active investors and experts, including:

CVC scouts from CMPC Ventures (Chile) and Marubeni Corporation (Japan)

Nordic funds such as Skåne Ventures (Sweden)

Moderation by Potter Clarkson, a leader in IP strategy

More speakers will be announced soon, promising a rich exchange of perspectives from both Nordic and international players.

Part of a Larger Ecosystem: LOOP Forum

The Investor Dialogue is part of the LOOP Forum, a leading platform for circular economy innovation. Attendees will also have access to:

10:00–12:00: Circular Funding and Capital Focusing Session by Nordic Innovation – Exploring how to finance circular value chains for critical materials.

16:00: LOOP Forum 5-Year Anniversary Mingle – Celebrating Northern Europe’s role as a circularity hub, with a reception hosted by STRING Megaregion.

How to Join

This is an exclusive, approval-required event. Investors interested in attending must register by April 24 via this link.
Three sustainable technologies, ranging from biodegradable plastics to next-generation biopesticides and elastic biofibers, have emerged as the winners of Green Leap Challenge 2025, Denmark’s premier competition for green innovation.

The winning startups, selected from 49 submissions, were honored at a ceremony in Axelborgsalen, Copenhagen, each receiving € 6500 (DKK 50,000) and support to further develop their business ideas in food, bio-resources, and circular solutions.

A Showcase of Green Innovation

Organized by Food & Bio Cluster Denmark, in collaboration with Dansk Erhverv, Alliance for Biosolutions, Rockstart, BioInnovation Institute, and Potter Clarkson, the competition highlights the regions leadership in sustainable technology. Previous participants in the Green Leap Challenge have collectively raised over € 200 million (DKK 1.5 billion), demonstrating the competition’s role in accelerating green startups.

The nine finalists pitched their ideas to a jury of experts and a live audience at the “Bio Inspire & Green Leap Awards” event. The winners were chosen based on innovation, scalability, and sustainability impact.

“Every year, we see how innovative green ideas can drive real change, for both the climate and business competitiveness, when they gain access to the right industry-specific networks, necessary support, and proper exposure. With Green Leap Challenge, we aim to give entrepreneurs a small financial boost to fuel their motivation and a platform where their ideas can grow and reach the right stakeholders,”

says Claus Mortensen, Head of Business Development & Internationalisation, Food & Bio Cluster Denmark.

Meet the 2025 Winners

Launch Bioindustries: Turning Yeast Byproducts into Bioplastics
Andrew Chiappetta and Louise Bakke founded Launch Bioindustries, a startup that converts organic yeast byproducts from bio-solutions into PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates), a fully biodegradable bioplastic. Their technology offers a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics, addressing the global challenge of plastic waste.

Collaborome: Next-Gen Biopesticides from Soil Bacteria
Developed by a team from the University of Copenhagen’s Department of Biology, Thomas Veje Flintegaard, Tanvi Taparia, and Søren Johannes Sørensen, Collaborome is pioneering biopesticides based on consortia of soil bacteria. Their solution provides a natural, chemical-free alternative to traditional pesticides, promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing environmental harm.

Biomimica: Elastic Biofibers Inspired by Spider Silk
Irina Iachina, affiliated with the University of Southern Denmark’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, leads Biomimica, a project developing sustainable elastic fibers inspired by spider silk. These biodegradable, high-performance biofibers have potential applications in textiles, medical devices, and packaging, offering a green alternative to synthetic materials.

The Green Leap Challenge not only spotlights innovative ideas but also connects startups with investors, mentors, and industry partners to help them scale.

“Being named one of the winners of Green Leap Challenge 2025 gives us a huge boost and tons of energy for the many hours we’ll now spend in the lab. It’s a tremendous recognition of the work we’re doing with Collaborome, and we’re excited to build on the momentum this competition has given us,”

said Thomas Veje Flintegaard, Collaborome

With sustainability at the core of their missions, these startups are poised to reshape industries and drive Denmark’s green transition forward.

Copenhagen and the Øresund Region stand out as one of Europe’s most dynamic innovation hubs, not just for its thriving startup scene, but for its unmatched collaborative ecosystem.

At a recent Clusters Meet Regions event, organised by the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) on behalf of the European Commission, together with regional Danish partners, the two-day event gathered policymakers, entrepreneurs, and innovation leaders from all over the EU to explore blueprints.

A Seamless Triple-Helix Innovation Ecosystem

This isn’t just to be a city with startups, it’s a living lab where universities, research institutions, hospitals, and businesses work side by side. This triple-helix model, which tightly integrates academia, industry, and government, has propelled this region to become the second most innovative regions in the EU.

With over 1000 startups and a dense network of over 20 cluster organizations, Copenhagen creates a fertile ground for cooperation. The University of Copenhagen, for example, doesn’t just produce groundbreaking research, it actively bridges the gap between science and entrepreneurship, ensuring that innovations move from lab to market.

Representing the European Commission, Giovanni Emma underlined the unique role clusters play in implementing EU industrial priorities on the ground:

“Clusters are where scientists and businesses meet. Not in theory, but every single day.”

said Giovanni Emma

He made clear that Europe’s scale-up challenges: fragmented markets, slow validation, and uneven regulatory capacity, cannot be solved by institutions alone.

This ecosystem doesn’t just support startups, it accelerates them, providing the infrastructure, networks, and resources needed to scale quickly.

Cross-Border Collaboration: The Key to Scaling Globally

This regions innovation ecosystem thrives on cross-border collaboration, recognizing that no region can drive transformation alone. At the Clusters Meet Regions event, leaders emphasized the need for shared testbeds, interregional alliances, and coordinated regulatory frameworks to help startups scale internationally.

For example:

Health & Life Science: Participants proposed a Europe-wide initiative to educate investors on medtech complexities and create shared clinical infrastructures to speed up validation.

Green Transition & Energy: Discussions focused on leveraging Denmark’s Energy Island as a demonstration hub for hydrogen and renewable technologies, with cross-border pilots to accelerate deployment.

AI & Digital Transformation: The need for structured knowledge-sharing and financial incentives to help SMEs adopt digital tools was a major theme.

“Europe has world-class research, but scaling remains too slow. Denmark’s integrated ecosystem shows how collaboration can turn ideas into global businesses.”

as one participant put it

Copenhagen’s ability to foster trusted partnerships, both locally and internationally, has made it a model for how regions can work together to drive innovation. With 13 unicorns born in Denmark since 2000 (including two in just the past weeks), the city proves that collaboration isn’t just a buzzword, it’s the foundation of success.

The programme also featured a dedicated GSA Nordics Spotlight, showcasing prominent Nordic alumni from the Global Startup Awards network. As part of two live recordings of the GSA Stars Podcast: Down the Rabbit Hole, hosted by GSA CEO Kim Balle, participants heard insights from Douglas Stark (Co-founder and Board Member, Voi Technology – GSA Unicorn) and Mia Grosen (Founder and Investor). Their on-stage conversations offered participants a closer look at the journeys of two successful Nordic founders.

The Øresund Advantage

For startups in the Øresund Region, Copenhagen offers more than just a strong local ecosystem—it provides a gateway to global markets. By combining local support, cross-border partnerships, and a culture of innovation, the city creates an environment where startups don’t just launch, they lead.
