Copenhagen-based fintech Franklin – the payment card built for e-commerce – closes a €1.6M (DKK 12 million) seed round led by True Collective to make AI the foundation of how e-commerce businesses manage their finances.

Franklin is the payment card built for e-commerce. Its cards are designed for high ad spend, so campaigns don’t stall mid-weekend or during Black Friday because of a low limit, and every euro an e-commerce spends on ads, software and operations earns 0.5% back, uncapped. On top of that, Franklin’s AI automatically fetches and matches receipts from Meta, Google, TikTok and the other tools merchants pay for – so bookkeeping runs on autopilot and the books close in no time.

“AI is one of the biggest game changers in modern business, and we’re building Franklin so our customers feel it directly in their everyday. We’re moving from finance tools that just show you numbers to AI agents that actually do the work for you. This round lets us reinvent the way our customers interact with their finances – AI is becoming the foundation for everything we do. We’ve come a long way in two years, but we’re just getting started.”

said Nikolaj Bomann Mertz, CEO & Co-founder, Franklin

More than 250 Danish companies, primarily e-commerce stores, already run on Franklin, growth has been remarkable, and the company has made a strong start in the Dutch market.

“We’re at the start of a fundamental shift in how e-commerce runs its finances. Soon AI agents will do the work for them, automatically and responsibly. Franklin is uniquely positioned to become the market leader for European e-commerce – and the potential is enormous. That’s why we’re all in.”

said Rolf Pedersen, True Collective

With this round, Franklin is going all in on agentic finance. Today, businesses manage their money in Franklin; the company’s vision is a near future where their AI agents do all the work – reconciling, categorizing and acting

“We’re bringing agentic finance to e-commerce – reinventing the way our customers interact with their finances through Franklin. AI is going to be the foundation for everything we do, and how our product works.”

Quickbutik, one of the Nordics fastest-growing e-commerce platforms, has launched its most ambitious project yet: an AI-driven, app-free platform that lets merchants customize their stores in minutes, for free. The goal? To kill the “App Store” model and hand control back to merchants.

Called Quickbutik Open, it empowers merchants to create bespoke modules and features tailored to their needs, using known AI tools like Lovable. Whether it’s a custom returns management system, hyper-personalized email campaigns, or interactive product finders, it can now be created by “vibe-coding”. The platform’s core is an advanced AI model that enables users to build and integrate functionalities directly within Quickbutik, using only natural language prompts.

“Relying on a patchwork of third-party apps for every function in an online store is pre-AI thinking. Merchants want to shape their stores exactly how they envision, on their own terms, without being locked into expensive, rigid SaaS solutions. With Quickbutik Open, they finally can.”

says Azddin Benberkan, founder of Quickbutik.

A Direct Challenge to Traditional SaaS

Quickbutik Open disrupts the status quo by eliminating the need for costly third-party apps like Hello Retail, Voyado, or Mailchimp. Instead of bolting on external tools that slow down performance, merchants can now build native features that run seamlessly within their stores.

“Lovable has transformed web development by making it intuitive and accessible. Now, we’re bringing that same flexibility to e-commerce. Merchants can combine their knowledge of our platform with AI-powered customization, turning ideas into reality without writing a single line of code.”

says Azddin

Performance, Speed, and Limitless Potential

The benefits are clear: faster load times, better performance, and unmatched customization. Unlike traditional apps that rely on external scripts, features built with Quickbutik Open run natively, boosting speed and user experience.

“This is just the beginning. We’re focused on rolling out Quickbutik Open and watching what merchants create. I’m convinced we’ll see entirely new functionalities emerge—things we haven’t even imagined yet.”

says Azddin

For Quickbutik, this launch marks a return to its founding mission: making e-commerce simple, powerful, and adaptable.

“It feels like day one all over again. Our goal has always been to help merchants launch and scale effortlessly. With Quickbutik Open, we’re redefining what’s possible.”

says Azddin

Wesports, the Malmö-based sports and outdoor retail group, is set to list on Nasdaq First North Premier before the end of the year, confirming months of speculation. The move comes as the company secures € 14 million (SEK 150 million) in new capital from DNB Asset Management, Handelsbanken Fonder, and Svea Bank, more than doubling its valuation to € 200 million (SEK 2.3 billion) in just six months, Rapidus reports.

Founded five years ago in Lund by Mikael Olander (formerly of BHG Group) and a team of experienced entrepreneurs, Wesports has rapidly expanded through acquisitions, including brands like Tretorn, Addnature, Cykelkraft, and most recently, Norwegian fitness chain Sportsmaster. The company reported € 250 million (SEK 2.8 billion) in revenue for the 12 months ending September 30, 2025, up from € 200 million the previous year.

Wesports aims to reach SEK 10 billion in revenue by 2031, driven by a mix of 10% annual organic growth and continued M&A. Rapidus reports that Mikael Olander, the company’s largest individual shareholder, will retain his stake, while some board members and executives may reduce theirs.

Wesports’ upcoming IPO highlights the regions strength in e-commerce and high-growth retail, with both success stories such as Boozt originating from here, as well as early pioneers such as Bygghemma and CDON (now part of Fyndiq) and many more. This region is also home to everything from giants such as IKEA, as well as lots of smaller e-commerce startups around E-commerce Park of Sweden.

Despite war, inflation, and economic uncertainty, donations are reaching record highs – and Copenhagen-based startup Contribe is on a mission to take this positive trend global.

The startup, which enables consumers to support charitable causes while shopping online, has raised € 435,000 in new capital as an extension of its pre-seed round. This brings Contribe’s total pre-seed funding to € 1.3 million, which will be used to take the company’s concept global.

According to a new study, Danes donated over € 1 billion to charitable causes in 2024 – an 8.4% increase compared to the previous year. This growing desire to make a difference is clearly reflected in Contribe’s growth: over the past year, the company has quadrupled its customer base and expanded from 6 to 15 markets.

“We’re seeing significant demand in the market – especially from end users who, perhaps surprisingly, are increasingly motivated by the opportunity to make a difference,”

says Christoffer Bouet, CEO and Co-founder of Contribe.

Contribe’s software enables webshops to let customers donate a percentage of each purchase to a charitable cause – at no extra cost to the customer. The result is higher conversion rates, better customer loyalty, and increased revenue for webshops, while NGOs receive more funding for their work. With the new investment, Contribe is ready for its next phase: scaling globally and building a category-defining product. The funding will go towards international expansion, product development, and growing the team.

“We’ve proven that the model works for everyone. End users are happy, our clients grow their revenue, and NGOs gain more resources,”

says Christoffer Bouet, adding:

“There’s nothing holding us back anymore. The next step is to take Contribe global and build a product that can define a whole new category within loyalty and e-commerce — with the vision that every purchase in the future contributes to a good cause.”

According to a report from E-commerce Park of Sweden (disclaimer: Karsten Deppert, initiator of this website, is also co-founder of E-commerce Park of Sweden), the Helsingborg region has solidified its position as a cornerstone of Sweden’s e-commerce landscape. Representing 39% to 54% of the country’s total e-commerce market, between 54 to 76 billion SEK. The new report by E-commerce Park of Sweden highlights how the region, known for its strategic location, robust logistics infrastructure, and thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, has become a vital hub for digital commerce.

A Strategic Hub for E-commerce Growth

Helsingborg’s unique advantages, including its location in the Øresund region, a strong tradition of trade, and a well-developed logistics network have made it a magnet for e-commerce businesses. The city is home to a mix of global giants and innovative startups, all benefiting from a supportive ecosystem that spans technology development, marketing, and international expansion.

“Working with international clients requires an international mindset – something that is easy in Helsingborg, as just looking out of the office you see Denmark and all the international shipping companies operating thru this busy part of the world.”

said Pierre Grönborg, CEO of HDL Commerce

Key Contributors to the Region’s Success

The region hosts headquarters, warehouses, and key operations for some of Sweden’s most prominent e-commerce brands, including IKEA, NA-KD, CDON, Tailor Store, Boozt, and Coolstuff. While IKEA’s digital operations alone employ 1,300 people in Helsingborg, the report excludes its revenue from the 8 billion SEK generated by local e-commerce businesses. This includes many medium-sized companies generating between 10 to 100 million SEK annually such as gents.se, 4dogs, uteprodukter.se, nybryggt.nu and soulfactory.se.

“Helsingborg combines a long tradition as a trading city with a strong culture of innovation and a strategic position as one of Sweden’s leading logistics hubs, making it a natural base for leading e-commerce players,”

said Soraya Axelsson, Director of Business Development at the City of Helsingborg

Employment Growth and Economic Impact

E-commerce employment in Helsingborg has surged from 5,250 in 2021 to 7,000 in 2024, reflecting the sector’s dynamic growth. The industry offers a mix of highly skilled tech and marketing roles alongside entry-level logistics and customer service positions, making it an attractive destination for talent. Also AI and tech companies within the field have emerged in recent years, such as Quickbutik, HDL Commerce and Contentor.

“We work every day with e-commerce companies looking to grow beyond their home markets. Being able to support them on that journey from Helsingborg, where we have close ties to our clients and a genuine international perspective, is something we find both natural and inspiring.”

says Rabie Salem, CEO at Contentor
