It’s missing short-form to fill any commute, run, or simple errand with many different learnings, stories, laughs and perspectives.

Kabloie is the first short-form audio app. The startup want to enable a personalized feed of short stories, news, insights, jokes, fun facts, podcast highlights, and much more. All with a maximum of 3 minutes.

The aim is to be the perfect audio companion for those in-between moments.

Now the startup has announced they raised €200k in a first investment round with Antler.

Kabloie was started in 2025 by Antonio and Tobías, who met at Lund University in Sweden while studying Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

This is an article from business angel Nicolaj Højer Nielsen.

One of the questions I get all the time is how angels really make investment decisions. It is not what we write on LinkedIn (which is all BS), but how we actually do it.

Here is the very simplified answer:

1. Ticket Size. Angels have limited pockets. Of course, there are huge differences between individual angels and different ecosystems. But looking at the hundreds of angels I personally know in Northern Europe, I would say that 80% of their tickets are in the €20k to €50k range. For example, in a case I invested in last week (not public yet), five angels put together a pre-seed round of €250k.

2. Collaboration. Due to both limited funds and know-how, we love to work together. In 99% of cases, we are not competitors; we prefer to invest as a group. If you are looking for €250k, the most viable strategy is not to try to get it all from one person. Instead, secure a commitment of €50k from one, and then ask: “Please introduce me to angels in your network.” Your hit rate from such introductions will be 20x higher than reaching out cold.

3. Informal and Formal Networks. The above happens in both informal and formal networks. If you want to approach a formal angel network in your region, try to get a lead angel committed before formally approaching the network manager. These networks are full of cases that never get funding because they don’t have a member to de facto vouch for the case to other members.

4. Search Local!. 90% of all cases we invest in are local! We want to be close enough to assist, but more importantly, it is the only way we can truly evaluate you. When you approach angels, there is limited hard data (like revenue), so it is basically a bet on you as a person. If you are from Scandinavia, there is a good chance I have five trusted contacts who also know you, whom I can use for detailed due diligence. But if you are from Belgium, I can’t.

In general, don’t waste time chasing international angels unless:

A. You know them already.

B They are industry experts in your specific niche.

C. They are being referred to you by other angels who want to invest.

5. “Non-VC” Cases. Angels also invest in cases that are not typical VC cases, often where the risk/reward does not satisfy the high demands of a venture fund. Of course, this comes with a flip side: if your company does not have the potential to become a billion dollar company, the valuation is naturally much lower. Many startups don’t understand that.

6. Not Ideas. Angels generally don’t invest in ideas (unless they know you already and are essentially investing in you). Don’t waste your leads by contacting angels with a slideshow of what you will do; get some traction first. Requirements vary by industry (for example, deep tech vs. e-commerce), but you need to show the ability and commitment to cover the first leg of the journey on your own.

Do the above, and you will increase your chance tenfold of actually securing an angel investment.

Rapidus reports that Spiideo, the Malmö-based sports video and analytics company, has reached a €105 million (SEK 1.2 billion) valuation in its latest funding round, according to newly registered documents with the Swedish Companies Registration Office (Bolagsverket).

The fresh capital injection, amounting to a small round of €2 million (SEK 23 million), is described as a strategic move to strengthen financial flexibility and allow key investors to increase their stakes, a modest sum compared to the company’s €20 million (SEK 230 million) funding round the company did two years ago.

Founded as a training analysis tool, Spiideo has evolved into a comprehensive video and data platform for sports venues, individual clubs, and entire leagues, with football and ice hockey as its largest markets.

Today, the company’s AI-powered camera systems and analytics software, including VAR (Video Assistant Referee) support, are deployed in 10,000 arenas across 20 different sports worldwide.

Spiideo’s rapid growth reflects its shift from selling to individual teams to partnering with entire leagues, a strategy that has fueled its expansion. The company has seen its revenue soar from €4.4 million (SEK 50 million) to an estimated €22 million (SEK 250 million) in 2025. Its largest market, the U.S., now accounts for as much revenue as the rest of the world combined, marking a significant shift from its early focus on European clients.

In a world where software development has been democratized by no-code platforms and AI tools, hardware innovation has remained stubbornly complex – until now. Atech, a groundbreaking AI hardware startup with roots in both Stockholm and the Øresund region, has raised a pre-seed round from top-tier investors, including Nordic Makers, Emblem, Lovable, Sequoia Scout Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz Scout Fund (A16z).

The company is on a mission to make hardware development as accessible as building a web app, removing one of tech’s highest barriers to entry.

Founded by Vladimir Baran (CCO), Tomas Erik Harmer (CEO), and David Stålmarck (CTO), Atech is tackling a long-standing problem: hardware development has traditionally required years of specialized expertise or significant investment in engineering talent. This barrier has kept countless innovations on paper, limiting hardware creation to a small group of experts.

“We are making it as easy to build hardware as it is to build software. It’s already used by companies and individuals to prototype and build hardware faster.”

said David Stålmarck, co-founder

While software development has seen a democratization revolution over the past decade, with tools like no-code platforms and AI assistants, hardware has lagged behind. Atech is planning on changing that by introducing “vibe-engineering” for hardware. Just as modern AI tools allow non-developers to create software, Atech enables users to describe a hardware concept in natural language and receive a working prototype in minutes, with all the underlying technical complexity handled by the platform.

”I am seeing the same patterns Lovable had, but for hardware. I’m really excited to see Atech’s journey. The team is one of a kind,”

shared Anton Osika, CEO of Lovable.

In a world where drones are becoming both a tool and a threat, Raven Tech, a startup based in Ängelholm, is pioneering a solution to autonomously capture intruding drones. The company has secured its first commercial customers, marking a significant step forward in drone security and autonomous defense technology.

Raven Tech’s system combines detection, autonomous flight, and net-based capture to neutralize unauthorized drones. Once an intruder is detected, the system deploys a drone to intercept and safely transport the rogue drone to a designated location. This innovation is already attracting attention from industries where security is paramount.

Rapidus reports the startup’s first commercial customer is a Swedish port operator, which will install the system to secure a terminal handling hazardous goods. According to Magnus Jansson, Raven Tech’s CTO and co-founder, the first delivery is scheduled for June 2026. The aim is to sell 100 systems in the next 12 month.

With a price tag reported to be around €45,000 for the system and a two-year license, Raven Tech is positioning itself as an alternative in autonomous drone security solutions.

Raven Tech is founded by Magnus Jansson, who has a long experience in visual startups such as Briskeye and Gamecam, and Leo Jansson, a former officer in the Swedish Air Force. The startups has been quietly developing its technology since 2020. The system has undergone rigorous testing in collaboration with a Nordic defense actor and an energy company.

Data shows that Nordic women-led ventures are currently one of the most undervalued asset classes in the European tech ecosystem.

Earlier this month Even Founders, the Nordic’s largest incubator for early-stage women founders, released its “State of Nordic Women-Founded Startups 2025” report. The report tracked 219 Nordic companies (co-)founded by women that raised a combined € 707 million in 2025, underscoring both the scale of the opportunity and the cost of continued underinvestment. The report found that despite being the most credentialed cohort of founders, women-only teams remain systematically underpriced and pushed into a cycle of grant dependency that weakens the signal chain needed for growth-stage investment.

61% of women-only Nordic founders tracked in 2025 hold a Master’s degree or PhD, and for women in mixed-gender founding teams, the figure climbs to 74%. Yet the average deal size is 2.8 times higher for women in mixed-gender founding teams, a difference that cannot be explained by pipeline, sector choice or qualifications. Meanwhile, the concentration of capital in male-led AI ventures and the exclusion of women-only teams from deep tech in 2025 suggest the European technology economy is narrowing its focus instead of expanding its problem-solving capacity to compete globally.

“The pattern most funds are working from was set a long time ago. It describes a very specific kind of founder — and the Nordic VC trend is actively reinforcing it, not disrupting it. The consequence is a closed loop. Investors source deals through founders they already backed, and those founders refer people who resemble them. That means the same type of founder gets backed again and, in turn, refers even more founders like them.”

says Ana Andonovska, Founder of Even Founders.

European industrial policy is betting billions on biotech, climate tech, and deep tech — sectors dominated by some of the Nordics’ most credentialed founders. Yet the “State of Nordic Women-Founded Startups 2025” report shows women-only founders are concentrated in femtech, health tech, and food tech — sectors solving problems that affect billions. Still, the funding mix of these companies points to weaker institutional conviction: 23% of rounds for women-only teams were grants, versus 12% for mixed-gender teams.

“Capital follows conviction. Conviction follows familiarity. And familiarity is a self-perpetuating system that never has to confront a new definition of what a fundable founder looks like. When investors source deals through their existing portfolio of founders and angels, they are outsourcing their judgment to a network that is already self-selecting”,

Andonovska continued

The research found that deep tech, which has zero women-only founding teams in the 2025 Nordic dataset, raised more capital than any other sector. One of those founders was Dr. Katja Rosti, who is the co-founder and chief operating officer of Avenue Biosciences, a Finnish-American biotechnology company that raised 5 million euros in additional funding last year to scale a protein engineering technology that significantly improves the manufacturability of protein-based therapies.

The economic integration in the region continues to grow, and now News Øresund reports it has reached new heights. They report that according to the latest data from Statistics Sweden (SCB), Malmö residents earned nearly € 830 million (8.9 billion SEK) from Denmark in 2024, double the amount from just three years ago. This means that 9% of all income for Malmö’s population now originates from across the Øresund, highlighting the region’s deepening cross-border labor market.

The average income Malmö residents earn from Denmark has increased by a third in just three years, rising from €42,500 (480,000 SEK) to €56,000 (630,000 SEK) in 2024. The number of Malmö residents with Danish wages has also grown by over 50%, from 9,300 to 14,100 people.

Karl McShane, an analyst at Malmö City, points out that while currency fluctuations (a stronger Danish krone) have played a role, the trend is driven by more than just exchange rates:

“The average income rose by 10% in 2024 alone—a year when the Swedish krona actually strengthened. This suggests that Malmö residents are not only earning more but also securing better-paying jobs in Denmark.”

Karl told News Øresund

Several factors are fueling this rapid growth. Danish salaries have historically been higher than Swedish ones, particularly in sectors like tech, healthcare, and finance. Also post-Pandemic remote work has led to more relaxed rules on home office work have made it easier for Malmö residents to commute less frequently while still working for Danish employers. Denmark’s tight labor market and high demand for skilled workers have also created opportunities for Skånes workforce.

The total income Malmö residents earned from Denmark in 2024 makes Malmö the top Swedish municipality for cross-border income, though Strömstad (near the Norwegian border) leads in per-capita earnings.

Taxation and Compensation

Income earned in Denmark is taxed by the Danish state. In return, Denmark pays a lump-sum compensation to Sweden, and border municipalities like Malmö receive additional support through Sweden’s equalization system.

The Øresund Region continues to serve as a testbed for European integration, and these new figures underscore the growing economic interdependence between Malmö and Copenhagen. For startups, businesses, and policymakers, the data signals a unique opportunity to leverage a binational talent pool, foster innovation, and strengthen the region’s competitive edge.

SAGA Diagnostics, a pioneering Lund-founded biotechnology company specializing in advanced cancer diagnostics, has entered into an agreement to be acquired bacquired by Foundation Medicine, a leader in comprehensive genomic profiling. The acquisition, announced yesterday and valued at up to € 504 million, underscores the growing global demand for precision diagnostics and liquid biopsy solutions, and marks a significant milestone for the Nordic life sciences sector.

SAGA Diagnostics has developed a groundbreaking technology that detects and monitors cancer through the analysis of tumour-specific structural variations in DNA from blood samples. Unlike traditional methods that focus on individual mutations, SAGA approach enables highly sensitive detection of residual disease, allowing for earlier identification of cancer recurrence – a critical factor in improving treatment outcomes.

“I’m a bit overwhelmed and so incredibly proud of everyone who helped get us here. 10 years ago Anthony George and I spun-out SAGA Diagnostics, and today it enters a definitive merger agreement with Foundation Medicine (Roche). This means ultrasensitive ctDNA monitoring can now reach thousands of cancer patients around the world.”

said Lao Saal co-founder

The company’s flagship product, Pathlight, has achieved several key milestones since its 2021 financing round, including clinical validation with strong results, a commercial launch in the U.S., and Medicare reimbursement for breast cancer. These achievements have positioned SAGA Diagnostics at the forefront of the rapidly expanding liquid biopsy market, which is poised to transform cancer care through earlier and more precise interventions.

“Our mission at SAGA is to intercept cancer early when patients are most treatable and curable. Foundation Medicine’s commercial scale and innovation accelerates our ability to bring this unique MRD platform to more patients worldwide. We are proud of our team for advancing innovation in the MRD field and commercially launching Pathlight to improve patient outcomes.”

said Roopom Banerjee, Executive Chairman of SAGA.

A Strategic Acquisition in a Growing Field

The acquisition comes at a time of surging global interest in precision diagnostics, driven by the need for more personalized cancer treatments and the potential for earlier detection of recurrence. Liquid biopsy-based solutions, in particular, are experiencing strong growth due to their ability to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) – a game-changer for patient outcomes.

The company was founded in Lund, and has been part of the Smile incubator. But since 2023 had most of its approximately 100 staff in the US, with only a smaller R&D team in Lund. However, multiple of the key investors are from the ecosystem, such as LU Ventures and FSG (Fåhraeus Startup and Growth), which was one of the biggest external shareholders with a bit under 10% of the shares.

But also other life science investors, such as Sciety, which led Saga’s € 10 million financing round in 2021.

“When Sciety invested in Saga Diagnostics, we recognized the transformative potential of their technology. Since then, the company has not only validated its clinical and commercial relevance but also established itself as a leader in a field that is reshaping cancer care. This acquisition will accelerate the reach of Saga’s innovations to more patients worldwide. It also represents Sciety’s tenth exit, a testament to the strength of Nordic life sciences and our collaborative investment approach.”

Andreas Lindblom, Managing Partner at Sciety
