There is a list in the widget that tells you the most popular places based on everyones checkins. This is an assumption right now, that this list tells you where the locals go, but we think it is a pretty good assumption since most checkins come from the people living at the destination. As Petter says this is a start and we will improve!

Andreas, I totally see your point and agree with you. You can't count on your friends to be the best local advice. But, it's a starting point. We believe we can continue develop this to be something that's truly magically & bringing the best local advice ever. If you've any good advice on how to improve it, let us know. /Petter

Sounds great!

Bit of a contradiction in this though:
"travelers often want to know where “the locals” hang out to avoid all the tourist traps. And by using our service you can see where your friends have been to.”

Can I always count on my facebook friends to be locals in the towns where I visit?
