]]> AlgoTrim, a Malmö-based company that develops algorithms for faster processing and less memory usage by operating systems, was acquired by Apple for undisclosed amount of money reports Rapidus.

“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans,” said Apple’s spokeswoman Kirstin Huguet.

The company was founded in 2005 by Anders Berglund, Martin Lindberg and Anders Holtsberg. AlgoTrim’s technology enables compression of data, images and videos useful for mobile phones and tablets. Therefore, this acquisition could help Apple to power up its mobile devices, in particular make iPhone’s and iPad’s camera more efficient according to TechCrunch.

This was Apple’s second take over in the region. In 2010 Silicon Valley giant bought Polar Rose, a company that developed technology for face recognition.
