Assemblage operates amongst other the kollaborate.io and presentation.io services – real-time collaboration apps for shared whiteboarding, presentation broadcasting and screensharing. Cisco especially touted Assemblage’s support for one-click browser-to-browser configurations without requiring extra downloads, plugins, or installations as a strong features.

Solutions that fit Cisco

Assemblage started out as CanvasDropr, a rebranding that took place a year ago. The startup has since established itself even further, with offices in San Francisco as well as the Copenhagen office.

Hilton Romanski, head of business development at Cisco, noted in a blog post on Friday that Assemblage’s products support at least 40 different file types, hinting at wide-reaching possibilities for the portfolio.

Assemblage’s experience integrating with third party cloud ecosystem applications like Box and Google shows a close alignment to Cisco’s collaboration strategy and their commitment to simplicity and interoperability.

It has not been announced if co-founders Cathrine Andersen and Christian Rasmussen will join Cisco with the acquisition. Trendsonline speculates that it might be an acqui-hire, something we would regard as very likely given the circumstances.

The rebranding of CanvasDropr to kollaborate.io is not just cosmetics, it also marks the evolution of the service. The service is now more enterprise-focused, supports integration with other services such as Googles’s Drive and Dropbox as well as supporting 40+ filetypes. This, together with it’s video and voice capabilities, makes it truly a useful tool for real-time online collaboration.

Presentation.io and reaktify.com are still under development, the first one being a product enabling users to simul-cast slideshows across different computers and platforms, without any need for installations or downloads. The second service aims to completement products like Google Analytics and Kissmetrics, to provide webmasters with more insights into their users behavior.

Apart from the rebranding and the focus on different products in the real-time collaboration market, the team also revealed a collaboration with the US company Tibco.

“[Tibco] will help bring real-time visual collaboration out to their 1.5 million customers in the Tibbr platform, which is an Enterprise Social Network that you can compare a little with Podio or Yammer.” says Cathrine to Trendsonline.dk

With such a strong partner and much in progress, the team behind Assemblage seems to have an exciting future ahead of them!
