Jesper Buch will stay with the company, while the three founders – Mads Lund, Mads Schjolin, and Henrik Lysgaard – will leave, which is not due to a disagreement, but to a wish for new challenges, reported in TrendsOnline.

“It’s been a good journey with my former partners, and together we have created a business with interesting prospects. The founders have decided to break new ground, and I look forward to following the new team’s struggle to continue to create value for Drinkster’s members and partners,” – said Jesper Buch in a press release.

Ole Holdgaard, who was the former export manager at Just-Eat, the online intermediary in between customers and take-away restaurants (a company Buch founded, along with three other people, back in 2000), will be the new director for Drinkster.

The company, which already in 2012 won an award for Best Danish Student Start-Up, now has more than 50 000 members, in over 20 Danish cities.

“It is an entrepreneur’s duty”, Buch said on Facebook, pointing to the fact that if there is not enough motivation in a company, there needs to come new blood to said company. Buch and Casper Bloom are going to stay on as investors, while the founders will move on to other projects.

Drinkster, who specialize in making it easy to order drinks and services for bars, have had a solid growth since their start. Earlier it was reported that they had held over 2 millions orders thru their system, and that they now cover almost all major cities in Denmark.

Casper Blom, about how he got involved:

“Jesper called me and said he had made ​​a new exciting investment, but that everything called online marketing and optimization on their website was quite bad. I took a look at it and saw that it was completely crazy, and decided to help them – and I have been following them since then, for I see great potential in the team and their product”

“I’ve seen many entrepreneurs start, and it’s quick to see who has potential and who doesn’t. Therefore I decided now that I wanted to be part owner of the company. I believe a lot in the project – it’s a win-win-win concept, the customer gets cheaper drinks and enjoys it, the bar, like those from bar rentals, gets early costumers that it would have had hard to reach otherwise, and Drinkster makes some money of it. It’s win all around. Especially with the great new app for iPhone and Android we now have.” he continues.

Earlier this fall it was also reported that Drinksters’ new suggestion features gave them a lot of social traction, with over 40 000 social notifications in just the first 3 days.

The product, and the team behind it, is something we will continue to keep an eye on. If plans exist for expansion outside Denmark is still unknown to us.

“We went from having a simple IT solution where the user got an SMS with a code that would be revealed at the bar after arrival. Now we have an integrated solution with the inspection box systems, as well as a QR-based solution we have developed and implemented,” says Mads Schjølin, director and IT manager.

“Although it has been a super tough start at an incredibly difficult market, we have done everything we could to keep cadence. We work around the clock, and have got some very talented people over – and it begins to brighten up,” explains Mads Lund, co-founder of Drinkster.dk.

As more and more businesses are going online in this day and age, the founders saw an opportunity of doing the same thing in providing better experience of night life. The services offered at Drinkster.dk include offers for cheap drinks and table packages, deals for dinner reservations, purchases of liquor, free entry and open bar. Orders can be done via smartphone apps or the website with the receipt as text message.

Interestingly, the three co-founders have rather long academic background which is not typical of an entrepreneur. However, such experience serves both pros and cons.

“I think that long education is a disadvantage in the initial phase. We soon found out that our academic approach to things meant that we waited too long and thought too much about our choice. Here it was good that we had Jesper Buch’s help. On the other hand, we can now see that when going from a small project to a nationwide portal our training comes in handy. I am certainly happy to sit in on budget meetings, and actually understand what the present value of an investment is and so on,” Says Mads Lund.
