Accel recently released a report with a focus on top 100 SaaS startups. From this region four made it to the list: Planday, Peakon, GetAccept and Templafy all where listed.

“From 2016 to 2019, it rose from $2 billion to $5 billion, growing much faster than in the US, which grew from $15 billion to $20 billion. It now represents one quarter of the US. European companies have been able to raise rounds as large as their US counterparts, and UiPath and Veeam top the list with $568 million and $500 million in total investment respectively.” the report says

This region has been known for being strong in B2B focused startups, of which many are SaaS companies. Even so, for some, such as Planday, this is a sought-after listing. Planday raised an historic € 35 million funding round by leading European investors last year.

“Planday’s roots are Danish but our mindset and know-how is global. By bringing the best of Danish design and a commitment to the empowerment of working people, we have developed a market-leading product and have been backed by the market to grow and pioneer new solutions even more,” says Christian Brøndum CEO at Planday.

Having four startups from the region on the European lists shows the strength we have here. But as with any larger startup, they are not just based here – but taking the strength from this region global.

“We are very much a Scandinvian company — our headquarters are in Copenhagen and our offices are in Oslo, Hamburg, London and Los Angeles. In everything we do, we try to bring the best of Scandic design and efficiency to every touch-point in the Planday platform, experience and partner ecosystem.” Christian says

About the startups

GetAccept – Is a tool for rethinking how sales document work. With their eSigning workflow they help salespeople close more deals.

Peakon – Peakon works with increasing feedback within organisations. Its tool collects employee feedback, analyses it, and then delivers it back to the organisation.

Planday – Planday builds software that makes it easier for managers and hourly workers to communicate, collaborate, and get work done. The focus is to make the relationship between hourly workers and their managers more efficient and productive.

Templafy – Templafy helps users improve productivity, branding, and compliance across business documents, presentations, and emails. Templafy’s platform assists enterprise employees in each stage of the document creation workflow, delivering productive, compliant and enjoyable ways.

Malmö-based startup GetAccept, founded by Samir Smajic, Mathias Thulin, Jonas Blanck and Carl Carell, has recently received a significant investment of over € 6 million. The capital is planned to be used to scale up sales and marketing.

Getaccept has created a platform where sellers can streamline the bidding and signing process. This includes services, such as document tracking, live chat and video solutions in sales documents to make it easier to conclude agreements.

The funding round was led by London-based DN Capital with participation from, among others, BootstrapLabs and YCombinator.

“It has been a revolutionary winter with many rewarding meetings with many different stakeholders, who have seen a great potential in us, as we, despite our rapid growth, are profitable and, in fact, are the only ones in our industry that are profitable,” says Samir Smajic, the CEO of Getaccept.

The company had sales of 740 000 EUR with a profit of nearly 95 000 EUR in 2017. According to the startup’s press release, sales have tripled during last year.

The company is also announcing that former CMO of Slack and Zendesk, Bill Macaitis, will join the company’s Board of Directors.

“I’ve been fortunate to work for and advise some of the fastest growing SaaS companies in history, and I know a winner when I see one. Anyone who has ever fought through a long deal cycle knows how painful it is to get through to the finish line. GetAccept is fundamentally changing this process. I look forward to partnering with the GetAccept team and helping companies all over the world improve their close rates.” said Bill Macaitis.

The customer list includes players such as Samsung and Siemens. The company has previously had offices in the USA and has also opened new offices in Norway, Denmark and France.

“We see a large opening in the market and must act on it and meet the demand that exists,” says Samir.

After a year in Stockholm, GetAccept has chosen to return to Malmö where it all started. By moving their main office to Malmö, GetAccept hopes to benefit from the strong entrepreneurial culture of the city and the proximity to the rest of Northern Europe.

“In Stockholm, it is a completely different type of entrepreneurial spirit than in Malmö where companies increasingly want to help each other,” says Mathias Thulin, co-founder of GetAccept.

GetAccept was founded in 2015 by Samir Smajic, Carl Carell, Jonas Blanck, and Mathias Thulin. The platform enables companies to send requests for electronic signatures, a feature which makes B-to-B more manageable.

Using the platform, companies are able to send out digital offers. The sales process can, thereafter, be followed live on the platform. If the process comes to a halt, the GatAccept will automatically launch a reminder in the form of a banner advertisement, an e-mail or an SMS.

After returning to Malmö, GetAccept has been working hard to expand their team within the fields of sales and software development. Six new employees have already been hired including Anders Holmberg who will be acting as the company’s new Nordic Manager.

Though their main office has been moved to Malmö, GetAccept will continue to have some presence in Stockholm through their sales and delivery offices. The company is also active in the USA with offices both in San Francisco and Palo Alto.
