“We are doing this to create a liquid stock. To take private capital has been a different option, but we believe that in this way we can scale this process up faster”, says Hoodin’s Chairman Peter Wendell.

The Malmö-based startup is working with processing of digital content from open databases, based on the client’s preferences (keywords, geographic area), so it makes content relevant for each specific customer. Currently Hoodin’s clients include Lund University, Skanetrafiken, Riksbyggen, Lomma Kommun, Tourism in Skåne and others. It provides services in Education, MedTech, Tourism, Digital Services, Real Estate and Festivals/Events.

Just over a year ago, Hoodin had 5 employees, but there will be 12 full-time and 3 part-time employees in autumn. It is part of the Djäkne startup studio. Last time the company did a financing round was in the end of 2016.

CEO Marcus Emne also announced that Hoodin will launch a new monitoring service, called Omni Observer, a media observer that can be tailored for different industries. It will soon be tested in about 30 medical technology companies in Northern Europe.

Another feature of Omni Observer is that the customers themselves can add a monitoring notification on any source and also go in and process the downloaded material. For example, in the case of medical technology companies, the customer may follow patent or clinical trial announcements.

The investors that took part in this funding round involved a majority of the company’s current investors Ekap AIF , Taxam , Djäkne Startup Studio and Lindoff Technology. In addition, the company received capital from two new investors; Queen Invest and Martin Dell. From the total amount of 2.4 million, SEK 50,000 were from Almi. 

“A very important injection of capital. This is where we may start the movement towards volume, reaching out with our platform and services in a much bigger scale. We will invest in processes and platform enhancements to provide partners and customers with a fantastic experience and we will invest in sales and marketing capacity.”says Marcus Emne, the company’s CEO and founder in Hoodin’s News.

Hoodin is a content curation and engagement platform which brings opportunities to create digital solutions with a broader range of content. With Hoodin’s platform, customers can find, retrieve, analyze, enhance and distribute digital information. The company’s services are used, for example in marketing, hospitality industry and event organization.

“What is unique for Hoodin is that we build algorithms to figure out what kind of content is in the digital information. It is about recognizing and relating the content” says Marcus in 8till5 News.

The capital will be used to further grow the company. The startup is now investing in processes and improvements to the platform, and trying to expand their services on a larger scale. According to Marcus, in Nordic 9, Hoodin’s target sales for end of 2016 is SEK 4 million (€ 408,000), almost double from 2015.

Back in December, the long-running technical house Menmo changed their name to Djäkne. Djäkne is a startup studio focused on helping startups with early stage business- and product development. The house is placed at Djäknegatan 9 at the heart of Malmö.

At their official website Djäkne underlines that they are not a VC, an incubator or an accelerator program.

“We are a startup studio where we invest our own capital in startups and use our experience and network to grow them into successful companies. We measure our success in growing revenues in the companies and in how much fun we have together,” says Lars Widmark, CEO of Djäkne

IMPRESSIVE TURNOVER FOR HITTAHEM

The Malmö based real estate marketplace, have seen an astounding rise in turnover during the last year. Going from €2 million in 2014 to €33 million in 2015. The company has moreover hired six new developers, thereby doubling their technical department. HittaHem is however still searching for talented .NET backend, app developers and web frontend developers.

UNITED ROBOTS LAUNCHES ROSALINDA

United Robots is a company that specialises in creating programs for text generation. Their first product is called Rosalinda and is a product that is able to write automated sports articles. The release has been followed by a big interest from the media industry and Mittmedia is already using the program for some of their titles.

United Robots are still developing Rosalinda and are therefore also looking for talented people to join their team. Further on in development Rosalinda is meant to work with other types of content and sports articles are therefore only the beginning of the product.

HOODIN GETS MAJOR CONTRACT

Hoodin is a company that specializes in creating content solutions for clients. The company have recently been contracted by a joint venture project between Region Skåne, Halland and Kronoberg.

The project is called Trails of Southern Sweden and it aims to collect content about the trails and visualize them via smart maps. Hoodin has both been contracted to collect the content and provide the front-end platform.

Trails of Southern Sweden is a truly massive endeavour. The client has estimated to save thousands of man hours per year by using Hoodin’s service. They simultaneously expect to an increased quality of content compared to traditional methods. The channels, site and apps will be launched in April.
