Overview News expands into Denmark with Overview News Alerts

Overview News, a Sweden-based company expands into Denmark with a new product, Overview News Alerts. It is a powerful and easy to use media monitoring service that lets users follow what the media writes about any given subject and get a mail, SMS or Slack update as soon as a relevant article is published. The Overview team is made up of Gustav Ekberg and Andreas Krohn.

Overview News Alerts is built on the Overview News API. The service Overview News API is a technical interface that enables anyone to search for and access relevant articles from thousands of news publications. With the focus on the new product the startup has entered the Danish market and now can provide their customers with media monitoring in both Sweden and Denmark.

“We expanded to cover Danish news for two reasons – we had Swedish customers with business in Denmark asking for it and we have seen a lot of interest from Denmark in our media monitoring service.” says Andreas Krohn

The service platform is extremely scalable and fast, which was proven when the expansion into Denmark was covered in under 24 hours, due to the superior algorithm.

“Our ultimate goal is to index all the news in the world and make that data easily available.” says Andreas

More immediate goals of Overview News, are to expand their news coverage to a few more countries (UK and Norway for example). They have the product, have proved that there are paying customers and are currently starting to look for investments to accelerate their sales, both in Sweden and internationally. With the plan to go global is it clear that the Denmark expansion is just the first step.

Think Accelerator Demo Day – impressive lineup

Last week was the Think accelerator’s first Demo Day. This was the first batch since Think changed from being an incubator to becoming an 3 month Accelerator.

The level of the startups was high. The teams, 4 swedish and 2 international, had all gone from early product or idea to having a product available, and in multiple cases paying customers. 7 teams where originally accepted, but one team didn’t make it thru the program.

The startups that finished the spring 2015 batch

IconCrafts – A freemium service where users can create their own icons, in more or less infinite number if variations. The team, from Macedonia, have built an impressive service. With their track record, this being their second startup, they look really promising.

Overview News – When Gustav Ekberg, who has worked with bigdata and news for 10 years, and Andreas Krohn, also known as “mr API”, team up to create a global API for news content, it has to be good. Very impressive service, aiming of complementing social APIs such as Twitter’s and Facebook’s, to provide an easy access to all of the internets news.

Proposales – A service that enables anyone to send beautiful proposals to customers, and also to get analytics data from them, such as when they were opened. During the acceleration time the team had grown, and has already a steady stream of users signing up, even without marketing efforts.

Ligti – A hardware startup that has a way to save a lot of energy and costs for managing multiple screen. Something of interest in an age when digital screen become the norm for outdoor marketing. With the unique technology the savings are tremendous.

Recualizer – A service that aims to make recruitments faster using AI. With smart algorithms and knowledge based tests, applications can be pre-filtered and screened more efficient, and on merits.

Radikalisering – Started by a former police officer specialised in prevention of radicalisation in society, the service aims to bring methods for detection and prevention to more with an online education platform.

Overall 6 promising startups. Very impressive for being the first batch, and an public run accelerator. The next batch starts in september, and applications are open.

THINK Accelerate will host its first Demo Day

Exciting news for the startup community. Next week THINK Accelerate, lean startup accelerator based at Mindpark in Helsinborg, will host the first Demo Day in Skåne and you are invited to be a part of it! The set up is very simple, the first batch of promising startups will pitch their business projects to a specially invited set of investors. Some of the startups are seeking investment, others business partnerships and some want customers and feedback.

Here’s the list of startups that will be pitching:

Each startup will take the stage for a five minute pitch. After the pitches there will be a mingle with snacks and cold beer from the local micro-brewery. All the guests will have an opportunity to interact with some of the most forward thinking startups and entrepreneurs in the country.
