It took three long years for the investor Jesper Buch and the team behind the app Reshopper to finally agree on cooperation, reports TrendsOnline. Timing, patience and the belief that both sides can help each other were the ingredients that made this agreement possible.

“Reshopper has created an impressive product. Very few Danish apps have been both the Editor’s Choice at Apple and appeared on the Apple’s top 10 list of best apps. It is an achievement in itself, but I feel that there is much more to come “, says Jesper Buch.

Long Way to Cooperation

Reshopper is an app that allows its users to buy and sell used children’s items. The first time the apps founders met Jesper Buch three years ago during an entrepreneurial event at Aarhus.

“It was the time when we tested the elevator pitch. Perhaps we could have prepared better for the event, however we managed to interest him a bit with our project”, says COO and co-founder of Reshopper, Nicolai Danmark Johannesen.

After some time when Reshopper team found out that Jesper Buch started investing Gomore – car sharing concept, they became even more excited in exploring possibilities for cooperation. The reason of the growing interest aroused from the fact that Gomore was based on the same values as Reshopper. Nicolai Danmark Johannesen and other co-founders met with Jesper Buch one summer day in 2014. During the meeting they outlined the common opportunities, but they could not reach the agreement at that time. However, in late 2016 Reshopper team again contacted Jesper Buch and finally they have agreed on cooperation.

High Hopes for the Future

Nicolai Danmark Johannesen holds high hopes for the future of Reshopper with Jesper Buch on board. And he is glad to give advice to other young entrepreneurs:

“Make sure to preserve and nurture relationships. People, who have invested in us, were those who have known us for a long time, so it is important to take care of your relationships. Just because you get a ‘no’ now, it does not mean that it is a ‘no’ forever. “says Nicolai Danmark Johannese

Third Nordic Startup Awards

The aim with Nordic Startup Awards is to inspire, encourage and recognize entrepreneurship in the Nordic region. It happens not only by honouring the most successful startups, but by focusing on the entire environment – from the investors and journalists to the founders and developers.
Nordic Startup Awards honours the most successful startups from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland for the third time. At the grand finale show the winning startups from each country will compete in 14 categories. Until February, the public could nominate their favorites. From receiving 550 nominations in 2015, Nordic Startup Awards has experienced great interest and received 737 nominations this year.

“The interest has been enormous, and the concept has spread to Southeast Asia, India and Central Europe. The whole thing is started and controlled from Denmark, helping to brand the Nordic region as an alternative to Silicon Valley and attract even more of the talents that the startup industry crave.” says Kim Balle, CEO of Nordic Startup Awards.

Reshopper, Danish digital marketplace with local focus that allows families to sell and buy used children’s things, has received an investment from Esben Gadsbøll, the founder of WhiteAway. The funding will be used for starting a new chapter in Reshopper’s activities – expand the popular Danish concept abroad, reported in TrendsOnline.

Reshopper was launched in 2012 by four friends Anders Dahl Pape, Jonas Funk Johannessen, Anders Munk and Nicolai Denmark Johannesen, and it is expected to exceed 150,000 downloads during this month. The size of investment will remain undisclosed. But it is known that Esben Gadsbøll will join Reshopper’s board.

The motivation to invest in the company, Esben Gadsbøll motivates by his high opinion of the team:

“I have known the founders for a few years, and they are very talented. They have come a long way in building a really cool platform that gets good ratings. All this is possible because they understand how to get things to go viral, and how to get a lot of PR. It is a machine that rolls by itself.”

Reshopper team has previously been in dialogue with several investors but without the luck of finding the right match. With Esben Gadsøll the team feels like they found the right chemistry.

“We’ve had some good talks with many competent people along the way. But when we started talking to Esben Gadsbøll, there was a unique chemistry and understanding of our vision of creating a global brand and building a dedicated community. Esben possess a keen visionary sense, he constantly scans new things to see what the next big thing will be. Such a person is immensely important to have on the team,” says the co-founder of Reshopper, Nicolai Denmark Johannesen.

Reshopper plans to make one or two funding rounds, both with handpicked business angels and possibly venture capital firms. The money will be spent on extending the team so they can roll quickly and successfully into new countries.
