Index Ventures is one of Europes best performing venture funds, they are focussed on technology and is based in London. As a top venture fund they are interested in building relations with great up-and-coming nordic startups and entrepreneurs before these become household names. Given impressive track record of nordics startups in recent years, they are now increasing their focus in the region. To do that, they are partnering up with startup village to have an ear to the ground in the local ecosystems, in addition to using their wide existing network.
“We are proud to announce that Startup Village and Founders House have entered into a partnership with Index Venture.” says Tine Thygesen, CEO for the organisation behind FoundersHouse, Mesh and StartupVillage in a pressrelease.

Startup Village have a long tradition of matching venture funds with local startups

Since opening in 2013 they been  the only startup hub in the Nordics to have partnerships with all the leading Nordic venture funds. Today one of Europe’s most respected venture funds join the ranks, as the first non-nordic venture partner, that’s a tangible sign of exciting times for nordic startups as more and more investors look to this region.

“We’re stoked to be working with Index Ventures! As a Nordic entrepreneur I am proud that they are eyeing up our region as a high-potential area” says Tine Thygesen. “These guys are incredible skilled in what they do, and provide an important link to venture capital in London and further afield” Thygesen finishes.

Startup Village and (it’s sister organisation) Founders House is the pioner in the scalable tech startup scene in Denmark, and furthermore has a sibling in Norway, Mesh Oslo, which is Norway’s largest innovation hub and home to companies such as Kahoot. In total around 1000 entrepreneurs, creators and team members work from their sites daily.
Existing venture partners of Startup Village include Creandum, Northzone, Sunstone, Vækstfonden, Northcap and Seed Capital which have collaborated with the area since inception. Founders House assists these venture funds, as well as two angel associations, in startup relations, grass root knowledge, introductions and invitations to local key events.
