Spring batch of startups at Helsingborg’s THINK Accelerate was been working hard for over a month now. Below you can find information about what each startup does:

Getillsammans.se improves the efficiency and simplicity of the invitation- and gift process through a collective-giving online platform.
Robot Minds acts as the link between ́AI robots and humans.
Biketrace provides bikes’ with electronic communication capabilities to enable highest possible number of bicycles to be a part of the Internet of Things.
WEDLY simplifies wedding planning with a one-stop-shop.
Eventomania is an online platform, where one can look up and book local entertainment and events.
Pfit.ai lets user to get real-time feedback of their excercise posture and technique during a recovery, as well as well as provide performance and exercise tracking data analysis tools.
Chart Learning Solutions provides online courses in leadership, sales, customer service and team performance.
Questo offers quests, which are mission-like tours for discovering cities and museums in a playful and budget friendly manner.

As always, the startups are provided with lots of practical advice, mentorship and coaching.

New startups at THINK Accelerate

Over two weeks ago, THINK Accelerate welcomed ten new startup teams from all over the world.

The accelerator programme is providing startups with mentorship and workshops on pitching, growth, metrics and investment for three months, and they receive new groups twice per year.

“We have a very exciting fall to look forward to. The startups were handpicked from approximately 200 applications are eager to grow and have a huge investment potential”, says Alexander Bastien, Managing Director at THINK Accelerate.

The teams, who got accepted into the programme are:

Biohax (Sweden) provides a microchip that helps digital life become seamless and secure with the use of blockchains. The startup is also working on improving sustainability.
Competitors App (Romania) allows marketers monitor competitors’ marketing moves within a short period of time.
Confideal (Ireland) accompanies businesses in creating smart contracts on Ethereum blockchain. It is possible to get or send payments, as well as other transactions.
e-bility (Germany) offers e-mobility solution services within the whole value chain.
Events Terminal (Ukraine) is a global marketplace of events, where the event videos are also published.
Flixier (Romania) helps create special video content for marketing purposes.
Knolyx (Romania) is a flexible and effective learning management system for innovative companies.
Snömoln (Sweden) provides a platform for buyers and supplies to connect and reduce food waste in the B2B food industry.
TOgenesis (Italy) focuses on sustainability, recycling and reducing costs for waste management.
Wyliodrin (Romania) is a platform for the industrial development and deployment of IoT solutions.

The mentors and speakers include David Beckett, a pitch coach, Anna Poirier from Min Doktor, Erik Byrenius, an entrepreneur and an investor, Hampus Jakobsson from BlueYard, Nicolaj Nielsen from Biostrat, and Karsten Deppert, an entrepreneur and initiator of Øresund Startup News.

How To Choose A Startup Accelerator Program?!!

There are so many startup accelerators, incubators and support services for these days, it’s great that there is so much help available but it can be tough knowing how good the programs are and support they offer.

So how do you know if that program is right for you and your startup? Here are our tips for assessing a startup accelerator program.

By founders for founders

Look for programs run by people that have founded startups and run businesses, you want the help and advice of people that have been through the journey and know what it takes. You can learn from both their successes and failures and benefit from their network. Programs run by non founders is a bit like the teacher that knows some theory but has never put it into practice.

Mentors

If you are not getting outside you’re comfort zone you are not learning and developing yourself as a founder. You want people that give you real feedback and will push you (in a good way) to progress. This also depends a lot on your mindset.

Funding

One hot topic at the top of every startup founders mind is investment. I would challenge you on whether you really need the money? Do you want to give away part of your company especially when there is so much ‘free’ money about. In our experience most startups don’t really need it yet – you need to focus on validating your business model and that means putting the time and effort in talking to your potential customers. Trying to spend money on growth before you are at this stage is a waste. You need to put in the ‘sweat equity’.

Track record

Don’t be blinded by vanity metrics – some programs will boast about how many applications they get or the number of mentors they have, or fancy office spaces. The only real measure of an accelerator’s success is the success of the companies that go through the program. It’s important to check out their stats, if they are willing to publish them, and if they don’t I would wonder why?

Look at the experience of the founders that have been through the program, reach out to some and ask them about it. You want to hear comments like these;

Øresund Fintech – a new finance and tech accelerator in Helsingborg

Just only a month ago, five local entrepreneurs founded the association Øresund Fintech. The main idea that they all shared was to raise the region’s expertise in new financial services, provide faster growth, and make it easier to start new businesses in the area. It seems like they succeeded in achieving their aims as this spring they will start their own industry branch of Think accelerator.

Think Accelerate already announced that there will be an impressive number of new members upcoming spring – 16 new companies!

What is more, half of these startups are planning to focus on financial engineering services. According to the experts, the total amount of promised investment is about SEK 150,000 (15,5 thousand EURO). “At Øresund Fintech we tailor what is industry-specific. Financed mostly by investments we have an opportunity to work with the most promising applicants”, said Joachim Samuelsson, to 8till5.se.

According to Joachim Samuelsson, Øresund Fintech’s chairman, these investments come mostly from a syndicate of investors. The association also contributes with guidance and offers advanced technology platforms to startup companies to develop their applications.

According to Alexander Bastien, Operational Manager at Think Accelerate, startups focused on financial and tech industries have a huge potential in Skåne region.

“When it comes to technology, for some reasons, nowadays, banking industry is far behind other industries. Which could not have stayed unnoticed forever. Thus, nowadays, many professional in the industry begin to realize this gap. And here is when Øresund Fintech takes the lead! We have people with experience who can help new companies to reach the next level. Fintech accelerators are more common for huge financial metropolises like London. While we, are here, in the Öresund region and it seems that we are the first of our type in Sweden, ” says Alexander Bastien, to 8till5.se.

The first major gathering at Øresund Fintech with the main theme “M-commerce”, is scheduled for mid-November. It has rather an ingenious name – “Ø-råd” (“Island council”) and will be held by five founders of Øresund Fintech.

Pitch & Afterwork at Mindpark

THINK Open Space jointly with THINK Accelerate organize Pitch & Afterwork at Mindpark in Helsingborg on November 3, 2017.

Everyone will have the opportunity to pitch a startup idea for ca. 3 minutes and take the chance to ask for help from the audience. After pitching, there will be an afterwork. There are many who work with ideas as accelerators/incubators, such as Think Accelerate.

“We believe that startups and entrepreneurs will have a lot to gain from this event. You may ask for help, perhaps you would like to get acquainted with someone who might be useful for your continuous journey? Another option is to share experiences and challenges with people who almost do the same, i.e. starting their own”, says Jenny Sandberg, program manager at Think Accelerate.

The event will start by giving startups the opportunity to pitch their ideas, and then it will be an afterwork with snacks. The idea behind the event is to gather startups from other accelerators and incubators, so that attendees can get acquainted with each other and share ideas during the day.
