We track over 500 startups in this region, and of these over 100 have women founders or co-founders that we know about. So on this day, we wanted to highlight 25 interesting startups, co-founded by women, to watch out for in 2025.

This list consists of us and external advisors who highlighted different startups. It is not an objective list, but rather based on personal insights and who we believe will have an interesting 2025.

The list is of both younger startups and more established scale-ups, and in different fields – from AI startups to those focusing on food or nutrition, to e-commerce. One thing is clear – there are definitely a lot of interesting startups building great products in this region.

Cross Reality: A unique multiplayer VR gaming turn-key solutions for arcades and entertainment venues. Their CRES platform turns any 100m² space into a virtual gaming arena with up to ten players simultaneously. Co-founded by Marie Möller. (Gaming, Hardware)

Della8: Crafting fashion-forward and functional products tailored to modern lifestyles. Co-founded by Emelie Nilsson Sträng. (Marketplace)

EasySize: Helping online shoppers find the perfect fit, reducing returns, and elevating the shopping experience. Founded by Gulnaz Khusainova. (E-commerce, SaaS)

Emission Twin: Developing technologies to monitor and reduce emissions, contributing to a greener future. Their software unites the ecosystem to help companies reach their climate goals. Co-founded by Tove Nilstun. (Climate, SaaS)

Edda Knowledge: Creating VR learning environments that engage students and assist in teaching. Empowering individuals and organizations with knowledge-driven solutions that foster growth and innovation. Co-founded by Sonja Holmer. (Edtech, SaaS)

Go Cirkular: Beauty brand specializing in upcycling raw materials to reduce environmental impact. Focused on vegan skincare and other products. Founder Irene Atance. (Cosmetics, Climate)

Inimini: Transforming the second-hand market for children’s clothing with a convenient online platform. Their goal is to increase the use of second-hand children’s clothing by making it easy for customers to find what they are looking for. Founded by Josefin Runquist and Maja Vallinder. Matr Foods: Uses the art of traditional fungi fermentation on a mix of Nordic organic vegetables, legumes and grains to create a new healthy plant ingredient rich with deep umami flavour and a juicy tender bite. Co-founded by Randi Wahlsten. (Food, Climate)

Miniferrum: Creating innovative iron supplements for children and women, based entirely on heme iron. Co-founded by Marlén Melander. (Food)

Najell: Designing innovative baby products that combine functionality with stylish design. Co-founded by Freja Najafi Kristensen. (E-commerce, Clothing)

NitroVolt: Offers a clean, green, and local ammonia production system that gives power to the individual farmer over their own nitrogen-based fertilizer needs. The technology relies on lithium-mediated ammonia synthesis reactor, called Nitrolyzer. Co-founded by Suzanne Zamany Andersen. (Climate)

Oxide AI: Leveraging artificial intelligence to make smarter high-stakes decisions and accurate, discovery-driven experiences with AI Agents. Co-founded by Kateryna Wikström. (AI)

Visibuilt: Developing a fermentation-based binder called visiBIT derived from one of nature’s own binders, mycelium. Founder Line Kloster Pedersen. (Proptech, Climate)

Wellbefy: Revolutionizing occupational health care with innovative solution and methodology. Co-founders Sandra Jönsson and Rebecca Arfwedson. (SaaS, HRtech)

4dogs. Pet care online store with solutions that prioritize the well-being and happiness of our furry companions. Co-founders Margareta Borg and Cina Bössfall. (E-commerce, Animals)

Why These Startups Matter

These startups are not just businesses; they represent the resilience, creativity, vision – and a drive to make an impact in the world. For instance, Inimini’s founders, Josefin Runquist and Maja Vallinder, have built a sustainable platform for second-hand clothing, oOr Emelie Nilsson Sträng who wants to enable a better sharing economy so that we can use resources smarter with Della8. Each one on this list are inspiring people that want to create a better world.

We have gathered some feedback from a number of startups who visited the event.

One startup that visited Folkemødet was ImpactfulJobs. It is a new startup from Copenhagen. Their mission is to put right people for right jobs, and as a result the world will be a happier and more sustainable place.

The startup participated in the panel that was called “Millennials and the Meaning of Work”. The debate covered several topics, including the quest of finding a job as a millennial. According to the panel, millennials often see entrepreneurship as a Do-It-Yourself concept, and they do not receive the necessary support. Furthermore, ImpactfulJobs brought to attention the fact that young people feel like companies are not taking social responsibility seriously enough. It is important for companies to change the way they operate, otherwise they risk losing talented young workers.

Another startup from the Danish capital, CanopyLAB attended the event. It operates within TechEd area and it provides youth with digital educational platform, often through social media. The courses cover issues, such as human rights, sustainability and migration. The startup believes that everyone should be able to learn only what they want and need to gain the competences and knowledge necessary for them in a way that they find most effective and enjoyable.

The startup’s CEO Sahra-Josephine Hjorth participated in several debates, focusing on the future of e-learning, necessary skills for a job-seeker and women in entrepreneurship.

She also participated on several talks on Iværksætterskibet.

Iværksætterskibet (Danish for “The Entrepreneurship Ship”) hosts annual entrepreneurship-themed debates at Folkemødet. The aim of the debates and lectures is to promote entrepreneurship to wider masses.

This year the panel consisted of:

• Christian Vintergaard, CEO of the Entrepreneurship Fund,
• Mads Váczy Kragh from Væksthuset Sjælland/Growth Factories,
• Louise Ertmann Baunsgaard, Investor, Advisor and Founder of Letz Sushi,
• Lars Thingaard, CEO of Milestone,
• Rasmus Wiinstedt Tscherning, Director of the Creative Business Cup.

The panel has suggested several directions for current and future business owners, as well as necessary changes on the national level, according to TechSavvy.

The speakers encouraged to make Denmark a more attractive place for startups – in their opinion, the political and tax environments are ready for that. However, what the entrepreneurship scene in Denmark also needs more is diversity. The speakers suggested more support for entrepreneurs in other cities besides the capital region, for women, who balance family and work and for younger entrepreneurs. On the other hand, Lars Thingaard still advises young people to finish their education and then go off to start their own business.

Another concept that was discussed was putting entrepreneurship onto the school schedule, beginning with preschools. The Entrepreneurship Fund is already working on that:

“When young people reach high school, they have already tried to create a business and earn money from their own ideas. Last year, 300 000 children and teenagers entered the course, and 20 000 tried to start a business. It starts as a play, and then becomes a way of life”, says Christian Vintergaard, the company’s CEO.

And lastly, Lars Thingaard also added an idea, how to improve it even further:

“One of the best ways to ensure an easier approach to entrepreneurship is corporate venture. The company pays off into a pool that can invest in employees who want to run out as self-employed. Danish companies are not very good at it. It is also beneficial for both the individual and the company”

There were other startups present as well, talking about different topics. One of them was Corti AI, a Danish AI startup, focusing on developing emergency dispatches and simplifying communication between a patient and a doctor.

Now we are waiting for the Swedish alternative of the festival, called Almedalsveckan, which was the original inspiration for Folkemødet.

Launched in 2015 CanopyLAB’s innovative approach to learning make the startup stand out among its competitors. Algorithms and gamification allow CanopyLAB’s users customize their learning experience based on their preferences and personal rhythm. The platform is built around an integrated social network that allows users to also interact with each other.

The very idea of CanopyLAB appeared when Sahra-Josephine Hjorth, co-founder and CEO, was doing research in Australia, as part of her Ph.D, where she was investigating how social media can be used to create engaging and social learning. She soon discovered that existing e-learning platforms failed to create the kind of learning that are sought after by young people today. As a reaction to this Christian Scare Juul Jensen, CTO and graphic designer at CanopyLAB, developed a platform that was specifically targeting the millennials.

“It is crucial that we understand that we educate a generation of socially conscious young people who want to learn not because it is required from them, but who wish to acquire skills and knowledge that would them to make a difference in the world they live in,” – says Sahra-Josephine.

Currently the platform has already acquired 5000 users from more than 65 countries.

Recently CanopyLAB has also started tapping into learning opportunities for corporate employees. The demand turned out particularly great. For a long time CanopyLAB worked hard to develop a new platform that is also tailored to the needs of businesses. The new white-label solution will be ready in March. The platform allows companies to take online courses offered by the companies themselves, but by other companies, institutions and NGOs that use the same platform.

The platform is attractive to companies because it allows to spot talented employees while they can train their current employees and give them the opportunity to acquire new skills.

Among the investors are Jens-Peter Poulsen, former partner of PA Consulting, Joachim Majholm, journalist and entrepreneur, a resident of San Francisco, Christian Maersk Mc-Kinney Olufsen, CEO and founder of ADFECT ApS, Laila Pawlak and Kris Ostergaard behind Dare2Mansion, Peter Kragh Halling, contractor, Jørgen Balle, owner of SAXO.com, Eric K. Horten, partner in Mazanti-Andersen, Korsø, Jensen.
