The prize is about highlighting 50 technology “trailblazers, innovators and executives that are smashing perceptions of what women can and do”.

Inspiring Fifty Nordic is a global initiative, initiated in the Netherlands by Janneke Niessen, and done together with Antler.

The awards breakfast hosted during Slush brought together leaders and influencers across the technology field that champion women and value the positive impact increased diversity has on all aspects of business including revenue growth, innovation and culture.

“We’re celebrating 50 women that have made major contributions to the Nordic technology industry. Their courage to push forward against the status quo and hard-fought success that makes them inspiring role models. It’s important that the industry, government, the wider business community and the public understand that the example the Inspiring Fifty sets will help transform the industry’s workforce, improving the sustainability of the Nordic economy.” Janneke Niessen, said

Amongst the Nordic list of 50 women in tech, 9 are from the Øresund region.

LifeX, a startup that sets up and manages a network of co-living homes for young professionals, recently announced a € 7.5 million Series Seed financing round led by Berlin based Cherry Ventures and Copenhagen based Founders.

Founded in 2017 by Sune Theodorsen and Ritu Jain, LifeX focuses on helping young professionals settle in Europe’s fastest growing cities by providing co-living homes in top locations combined with a convenience and an embedded social network of members from more than 50 different countries.

LifeX aims at making it easier to settle in a new city. It is currently available in Copenhagen, Berlin, London, Paris, Munich and Vienna, with more than 300 members from 50+ countries.

“LifeX comes from our own problem. While moving from San Francisco back to Copenhagen we struggled to find a place to call home. In the end we decided to try and rent a big flat in the city centre, make it into a beautiful Nordic-style home and see if anyone was interested in sharing it. We told a few of our coworkers about it, and the first home was full in a matter of days. That was just two years ago,”

– says Ritu Jain, co-founder of LifeX, adding:

“We’re planning to grow to 80+ homes and 7 cities by the end of this year.”

LifeX already works with multiple startups such as N26, Pleo and Delivery Hero, that are all struggling with the same problem: attracting foreign talent and making it easy for them to comfortably settle in a new city.

“We are reminded about the problem LifeX is solving on a daily basis. Our portfolio of growing startups like Flixbus are all struggling with helping their new talent settle in a city like Berlin. LifeX combines Nordic sense of design with an inclusive community and convenience.” says Christian Meermann, founding partner of Cherry Ventures.
