Royal Philips has announced about acquisition of Unisensor, Danish innovator in the field of optical analysis of fluids for diagnostic applications in health care, reports eHealthNews. The transaction will be closed in the third quarter of 2014. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
According to the agreement, Unisensor will continue as Philips’ business unit without changes for employee or company’s management. Jens Haugaard will remain Unisensor’s managing director.
“Unisensor will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Philips Denmark, but we want to maintain their current organization and structure, as it is exactly that the unique expertise is best preserved,” said Ulrik Rokkedal Therkildsen, CEO of Philips Healthcare Denmark to MedWatch.
Last year Unisensor has delivered its first product to the market – oScelloScope, a device that helps to see growth of cells and bacteria over time. Currently Unisensor has a turnover of 25 million DKK (3 million euro) but with a negative profits.
