Malmö-based Proofbacked, a compliance startup built by Leon Eckervall, Jarkko Rautula, and Christer Hernestig, has come out of stealth and announced it has closed an initial investment round, backed by Skåne Ventures, Saminvest, Martin Rugfelt, Martin Althen, and a group of angel investors.
According to Swedish Tech News PRO, the funding amounted to about €170,000 (SEK 2 million).
The company’s aim is to solve that compliance has a proof problem. When a supervisor, a customer, or an auditor asks who decided what, and why, most companies can’t show it. Security teams spend their time on questionnaires and chasing evidence, and when a supervisor, customer or auditor asks who approved a supplier, and why, the answer is in spreadsheets, inboxes and someone’s memory.
“Managing third-party risk is becoming increasingly complex, while regulatory demands are putting greater accountability on business leaders. But this is about much more than compliance. By leveraging AI, Proofbacked can dramatically reduce manual work and accelerate customer and supplier processes, while improving quality, control and traceability.”
said Martin Althen
In Proofbacked, the AI does the compliance work, while a named person makes every decision, and every decision is proven. The platform covers both customers and suppliers under NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001, and more, and is EU-sovereign by design.
The founding teams has a background from both bigger corporates such as Tietoevry and H&M as well as startups and scaleups, such as Hedvig, Defentry and Inriver, among others.
