Malmo based Anima Connected raised approximately 94 million Swedish crowns (10 million euro) in venture funding from Chines investors, reports 8till5. The company is working in the area of smart and connected consumer.

“Anima is a company targeting smart and connected products. In the times of Internet of Things companies deliver device hardware, device software, applications and cloud services. Anima aims to deliver the sum of all these parts,” shared on the company’s website.

Founded in the beginning of fall 2015 by 4 former employees from Sony Mobile: Fredrik Rosén (CEO), Pål Borge (COO), Sarandis Kalogeropulos (CCO) och Thomas Sandelius (CPO), Anima currently has a count of 50 employees and consultants, most of whom are also coming from Sony Mobile.

The company’s main shareholder with 75 per cent of the shares is Chinese electronics manufacturer Goertek, based in Weifang, through which Anima received the current funding. Goertek is listed on the stock exchange in Shenzhen and has a market value equivalent to about 59 billion Swedish crowns (6 billion euro), with 4.8 billion Swedish crowns (500 million euro) turnover in the third quarter of this year. Anima Connected is a kind of mixture, being owned in majority by a larger company.

Thomas Sandelius told 8till5 that neither he nor the other founders can give any further comments at this time.

We are just starting and has deliberately chosen not to expose ourselves publicly. Right now we put all our efforts on creating the company and take care of our employees.
