TechBBQ, which over the years has grown to Scandinavia’s largest international startup and tech event, has last week announced they have entered into a strategic partnership with the City of Copenhagen. The collaboration aims to position Copenhagen and this region as a global leader in green and digital innovation.

Over 10,000 participants gathered at Bella Center Copenhagen for TechBBQ 2025, an event showcasing groundbreaking startups and global discussions on the future of cities and technology. TechBBQ has grown into one of Europe’s leading platforms for tech startups and innovation, attracting investors, business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians, media, and speakers from around the world.

What began as a modest barbecue gathering for around 300 tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in 2013 has since evolved into a major international event, drawing nearly 10,000 participants from around the world for two days of inspiration, networking, and growth opportunities.

“Copenhagen has all the ingredients to become a global epicenter for green and digital innovation. This partnership is a crucial step toward uniting forces across the municipality, business community, and startup ecosystem. TechBBQ is proud to be the platform where we bring these visions to life and connect Copenhagen with the world.”

said Avnit Singh, CEO of TechBBQ

The partnership reflects Copenhagen’s ambition to leverage its strengths in sustainability, technology, and entrepreneurship to shape the future of urban development. By combining public and private sector efforts, the city aims to foster an environment where innovation thrives and global challenges are addressed through collaboration.

“We must reinforce Copenhagen’s position as a green and innovative metropolis and take the lead among Europe’s top tech and innovation cities. TechBBQ is not just a conference—it’s a platform for future solutions, and Copenhagen is a natural part of that journey.”

said Lars Weiss, Lord Mayor of Copenhagen.

The partnership, named CPH Partners, includes the City of Copenhagen, Copenhagen Capacity, Wonderful Copenhagen, and TechBBQ. Together, they will work to attract global players to the city and strengthen its reputation as a hub for innovation. The goal is clear: to establish Copenhagen as a leading international city for green and digital innovation and entrepreneurship, with TechBBQ playing a key role in this effort.

“Copenhagen must take the lead as the Nordic tech capital and become a gathering point for the green and digital transition across Northern Europe. This isn’t just about attracting new businesses and investments today—it’s about creating a labor market where innovation drives growth and where we take responsibility for the future. That’s why I fully support bringing together the people and expertise that TechBBQ mobilizes, turning ideas into concrete solutions.”
