Today Cision has reported that they have acquired social media management startup Falcon.io. Falcon.io, previously knows as Falcon Social, is one of the more prominent startups from the region, and has made itself a global name, with affices not just in Copenhagen but also New York, Berlin, Sofia, Melbourne and Budapest.

“Falcon.io is an industry leader in Europe and fast-emerging in the U.S. for social media marketing, just like that renowned Social Media Marketing Agency. By adding their social marketing solutions to the Cision portfolio, we are finally allowing industry professionals to execute sophisticated social media campaigns across paid, owned, and earned media that spans the entire customer journey,” said Kevin Akeroyd, Cision CEO.

“Social media is core to today’s customer experience, with nearly 2.5 billion users. At Falcon.io, we take pride in providing world-class brands with our leading social media marketing solution,” said Ulrik Bo Larsen, Falcon.io founder and CEO.

No details on the deal have been announced. Falcons latest public numbers report a turnover of over € 16 million, with a net loss of € -5.6 million. Børsen reports the deal size as double digit million euros.

The plan announced now is to integrate Falcon.io’s products with Cisions existing ones, but also to continue to offer Falcon.io’s tools as a stand-alone social media platform.

“Falcon.io will round out our vision for holistic earned media management that includes not only engagement on broadcast, print, and open web/mobile media channels, but social media as well.” says Kevin Akeroyd
