This week the plans that three key players for the startup and entreprenuerial ecosystem in Malmö will co-locate, have been announced. The startup house Minc, game community Game Habitat and Media Evolution have announced they will together have a shared house at the end of next year.

This will be part of the new Generate District, Malmös Innovation District.

“We are keeping everything that makes Minc unique – the culture, the community, and our strong program offering – while gaining new conditions that allow us to support even more entrepreneurs,”

says Tomas de Souza, CEO of Minc.

For Minc the change in location is mostly to leave their old venue, which has been home for Minc for 20 years, to facilities that are better suited to todays needs a couple of hundred meters from the current location, and for Media Evolution this is an expansion across the street. But for Game Habitat the move is longer, with them leaving their DebHub location in the old town to move to Varvstaden.

“The co-location creates unique conditions for us to leverage the world-class expertise and creativity that built the Skåne game miracle. At the same time, gaming gains a stronger and clearer position in the innovation ecosystem, paving the way for the next generation of successful game companies to emerge in the region,”

says Peter Lübeck, CEO of Game Habitat.

The new location, former premises av Saab Kockums, is being carried out in close collaboration with the City of Malmö. The aim is to and connect innovation, business development, and the city’s historic industrial heritage.

“I’m really happy that we’re now taking this next step. It’s important for each individual organization, but also for Malmö as an innovative, sustainable, and forward-thinking city of entrepreneurship,”

says Micael Nord, Director for Business and External Relations at the City of Malmö

This move strenghtens the entire region even more, and together with what Copenhagen has done in their Innovation Disctrict, which is focused on deep-tech fields such as life science and quantum, and Helsingborg has done with it’s Innovation District, where the startup house Hetch, Mindpark, E-commerce Park and RecoLab are co-located in the same area and houses, the entire Øresund region is getting strong hubs combining different fields and world leading expertice.
