Verizon, the largest mobile operator in the US, has ordered 5000 Tactivo mobile shells from Lund-based company Precise Biometrics. While the order came at the beginning of March, the company has revealed buyer’s name only last week. In order to finance the order and to market Tactivo smart cases all over the world the company’s board of directors in considering equity issuance worth of 55 million kronor. The decision will be made at the end of April.
Tactivo smart casing is designed to increase security of Apple products such as iPad and iPhone. The product’s key features include built-in fingerprint sensor and smart card reader. Earlier the CEO of Precise Biometrics, Thomas Marschall, has stressed that the deal with Verizon is a breakthrough milestone as it endorses the company’s product line. Recent introduction of Tactivo for Android and some other platforms makes Tactivo shells suitable for a greater variety of devices increasing company’s market share in the market for mobile smartcard readers.
