The Malmö-based logistics startup Vopty has launched its innovative SaaS platform designed to optimize and automate last-mile delivery. Aiming to streamline the logistics process for companies with extensive distribution needs, Vopty’s solution combines digital route planning, automated logistics, and real-time monitoring capabilities. The company’s first customer, Varsego, a nationwide food wholesaler, has already implemented the platform, setting the stage for a digital transformation in its logistics operations.

Since Varsego implemented Vopty’s digital transport planning solution across all 20 depots in Sweden in September, the results have been promising, according to Vopty co-founder Ola Cewers.

“Currently, around 30-40 Varsego vehicles use Vopty daily. During peak seasons like summer, this expands to over 300 vehicles operating across the country,”

Ola Cewers explains.

With the system now live across all depots, Vopty is continually enhancing the platform. The deployment has already shown real value for Varsego, where seasonal employees and regular staff have been able to efficiently manage deliveries, even in unfamiliar regions.

“We’re adding features to address the full scope of our clients’ needs, including integrating AI support,”

Ola adds.

A New Era in Logistics Technology

Founded by logistics veterans Ola Cewers and Peter Magnusson, Vopty emerged with the vision of addressing the complex challenges in supply chain and transportation. Both founders bring extensive backgrounds in supply chain management, and their experience helped shape Vopty’s approach to route optimization, which caters specifically to last-mile distribution.

“Developing our own company and platform had been on our minds for years, but it was in 2023, with Varsego as a pilot partner, that the idea really took flight,”

says Ola

The Vopty system is tailored for companies involved in last-mile logistics, allowing flexibility between automated route planning and manual adjustments. This hybrid model has proven essential for Varsego, which operates 300 vehicles across Sweden, distributing ice cream and other food products to approximately 18,000 customers. Varsego CEO Filippa Frisk views Vopty as a strategic tool to enhance both logistics and customer service.

“Integrating Vopty’s SaaS solution into our operations has been a strategic step in our efforts to digitize and improve logistics. We believe this technology will elevate our efficiency and customer satisfaction,”

Optimizing Routes and Reducing Costs

Vopty’s platform offers a suite of tools that make route planning simpler and more efficient, reducing the need for manual intervention while offering adaptability. The solution features a Planner application for route optimization, a Driver app to guide drivers, and a Customer Interface that provides customers with real-time delivery updates. This setup enables logistics teams to plan more precisely, manage routes flexibly, and keep customers informed about delivery statuses.

“The typical route optimization tools deliver a single automated route plan without options for adjustment. Our hybrid approach allows users to make manual adjustments as needed, making the tool both versatile and user-friendly,”

says Peter Magnusson

By adopting Vopty, Varsego anticipates benefits such as a 5-20% reduction in resource needs for transportation, increased delivery accuracy, reduced planning administration, and improved transparency in communication with customers. This approach aligns with Vopty’s goal of creating a comprehensive and user-friendly logistics tool that facilitates sustainable and efficient operations.

User-Friendly and Customizable Design

Ease of use has been a priority for Vopty’s founders. The platform’s design allows even those without extensive logistics experience to operate the software with ease.

“It’s crucial that our tool is intuitive. We invested in UX design to ensure that anyone, from seasoned logistics professionals to new operators, can navigate the platform effectively,”

says Ola

Expansion Plans for Vopty

Vopty’s aspirations extend beyond food distribution, with potential applications in other industries requiring logistical coordination, such as property management, security services, home care, and waste management.

Currently, Vopty’s founders aim to secure several more clients of Varsego’s scale, projecting growth over the coming years. They hope to build a market presence and expand the team, particularly focusing on sales professionals who can introduce the platform to new clients and assist with implementations.

The company is now also piloting extended functionality in its driver app, including scanning and a feature allowing drivers to handle parts of the route planning independently. Furthermore, Vopty has progressed to the final stage of the Microsoft for Startups program, giving it additional resources to further develop and scale its technology.
