Malmö-based EuroFlorist buys its rival British company Iflorist, reports 8till5. Iflorist is the third largest network of florists in the UK and operates a number of e-commerce sites such as iFlorist, iHampers, Flower Fete and is a major shareholder 1-800-Flowers.com (listed on Nasdaq).
Britain has been the largest market for EuroFlorist and after the acquisition of Iflorist the company will grow even further there.
“We had an awesome growth in the UK over the last four years, and with this deal we strengthen our position in the UK market. Iflorist has a well-developed B2B sales strategy, that we were just going to implement. Moreover, the incorporation of the Iflorist’s e-commerce into our environment would bring direct positive effects on the company’s performance,” – says Laszlo Varga, a managing director of EuroFlorist.
EuroFlorist was founded in Malmö in 1982. In 1995 the company started with e-commerce and nowadays has a network of 54000 flower shops in twelve European countries. The online sales make up sixty percent of the company’s turnover today. The company had sales of 993 million kronor (107 million euro) in the split financial year 2013/14. It is estimated that the order volume for the company after the purchase of Iflorist would increase by thirty percent. The company EuroFlorist is considered to be the most reliable floral network in the world.
“My hope for the future is that I work to make the world a little better,” – says Laszlo Varga about his plans for the future of EuroFlorist
