Contribe, a Copenhagen based startup, has successfully raised €1 million to expand its platform that transforms online shopping into an opportunity for consumers to support social causes. With the goal of reaching one million users by the end of 2025, Contribe is rapidly redefining the e-commerce landscape by integrating social responsibility into everyday transactions.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2023, Contribe has quickly established a significant presence in the online retail space, partnering with over 100 stores and gaining 100,000 users globally. The platform appeals particularly to Gen Z and Millennials, who are increasingly looking for ways to make purchases that contribute positively to the world.
A Modern Take on Loyalty Programs
Contribe’s platform offers what co-founder Christoffer Winther Bouet describes as a “modern form of loyalty.” It allows customers to support various causes—ranging from plastic collection and carbon capturing to women’s rights—simply by shopping online, at no extra cost. This approach not only meets the growing consumer demand for brands that contribute to societal good but also helps businesses enhance their market differentiation and customer loyalty.
“At Contribe, we believe every transaction is an opportunity to make a difference. Our platform enables businesses to create a win-win-win situation: customers support causes they care about while shopping online, and companies are rewarded for making a difference,”

Rapid Growth and Strategic Impact
The startup’s rapid customer acquisition, which includes notable brands such as MessyWeekend, Copenhagen Cartel, Sinatur Hotels, and Understatement from Sweden, underscores the compelling value proposition of Contribe’s solution. Businesses that adopt Contribe’s platform not only foster a positive image but also see tangible benefits such as improved conversion rates, increased order values, and higher customer retention.
“Our customers are not only doing good for the planet; they are also improving their performance and getting happier customers. That’s why we call it a win-win-win,”
says Bouet.
Future Ambitions and Funding
The recent funding round was led by Rockstart, Human Act Development, EIFO, and several well-known business angels, positioning Contribe for global expansion. The funds will be utilized to scale the business, with a specific focus on adapting to upcoming EU legislation that will affect ESG and sustainability reporting requirements for SMEs across Europe.
Contribe is set to play a pivotal role in this regulatory transition, offering SMEs a seamless solution to manage their sustainability reporting, thereby aligning with broader legislative trends and consumer expectations.
“We are building the future, and we believe that in 10 years, shopping with social sustainability will be standard for all companies,”
Bouet projects.
As Contribe continues to grow, it aims to set a new standard for how e-commerce can be a force for good, blending profitability with purpose, and leading the charge towards a more sustainable and equitable global market.
