Malmö-based startup OmMej, a platform focused on assessing children’s mental health for public agencies, has raised € 350.000 (SEK 4 million) in a seed funding round reports Swedish Tech News.
The round is led by Gorilla Capital with participation from existing investors, including Chairman Fabian Hagman. Founded in 2018, OmMej aims to use this funding to reach profitability, according to founder Nicolina Fransson.
OmMej is a digital tool that makes it possible for children to tell their own story – and for adults to understand the child’s perspective. The startup aims to creates a bridge between the children’s reality and the adult world’s interest in helping children in the right way.
OmMej was created after Nicolina grew frustrated with the challenges of truly listening to and involving children in mental health care. The platform has been widely adopted across Sweden, with nine out of ten children who have used OmMej recommending that all children should have access to it. Initially developed as a service for agencies, the company launched a free app in 2022 that allows children to share their experiences and connect with trusted adults or support organizations.
“As early as our first interaction, Gorilla Capital proved to be an exceptional partner—professional, committed, and deeply aligned with our mission. We are proud to have them on board as we work together to create a brighter future for children. Their investment is a strong vote of confidence in the important work we’re doing at Ommej, and we share a common vision: that children are the foundation of a better tomorrow,”
says Nicolina
Swedish Tech News reports that Nicolina expects growth in 2024 and 2025, driven by new contracts, expanded existing contracts, and the impact of upcoming legislation in Swedish social services. This funding will help OmMej continue developing its service, enabling more children to be heard and supported across the country.
