Danish SimpleSite, a service that enables users to build their own websites with ease and simplicity, has won Red Herring Global award. The company’s CEO, Morten Elk, represented the company at the ceremony in Los Angeles, USA.
The 100 finalists at the Red Herring Global were selected from more than a thousand technology companies worldwide. And SimpleSite was the only Danish company represented at the ceremony.
For SimpleSite, running several million active free websites and about 100,000 paying customers, the Red Herring Global award was important in terms of finding investors who can support the company’s future growth.
“We know that investors are very aware of Red Herring, so the award is important for us if we want to attract funding to maintain and strengthen our position in the global “DIY-websites” market where we compete against three to four major players,” shared Morten Elk.
Among Red Herring Top Global 100 is also Malmo-based Trialbee, that works with software solutions that optimize clinical trial process. See the full list of Top Global Winners 2015 here.
Red Herring Award highlights the most promising tech companies in three regional awards for Europe, North America and Asia, which then lead to the global event in Los Angeles. Many winning companies later become prominent companies, or being acquired by industry. Facebook, Google, eBay and Skype are among former Red Herring Global winners.
